I'm not sure if Huet will be starting in net.......I'm guessing he is because the habs are playing his former team.

Fascinating, isn't it?  Both goalies are playing for the first time against their former team!  This should be interestsing.

Looking at the relative stats, there' s not much to choose between these two teams at this point in time.  Should be a barn-burner (again).  I'd love to see a blow-out for a change.................. for the Habs, of course! )

Im very worried about this one.  I just read a report where CJ is saying how the team is looking forward to the lay off.  I hope the Habs aren't looking ahead.  The Kings are a solid team, and Garon will be playing extra hard.  I hope Huet isn't in net, we need this and I don't think he is ready. I know the overpriced guy isn't playing well but we need him now.

I really don't think we will see Huet in net. True this is his former team, but come on, they're doing very well so far this year. From what I've heard, Huet was less than steller in Hamilton, and so if he's having trouble there, I would feel very nervous putting him in against the Kings.

I watched LA and Ottawa last night, very physical  they even went after Hasek. It was so bad they pulled Hasek last night with 3 mins left so he would not get hurt. Heatley pushes a player from the back. The player falls forward awaw from Hasek. His skate comes up and hits Hasek in the face. Totally innocent play. This was even stated by Ottawa game announcers. The player got a penalty for goalie interference. How about this mistake. LA pulls goalie with 8 mins left in game to try to get a goal. Referee #2 blows whistle because he thought it was too many men on the ice.   He never saw the empty net  boy what a mistake

Theo will have to be on top of his game tonite, with all this talk about the Kings being hard shooters and such.

Id LOVE to see someone go out there and beat the @$#% out of Avery. I really dont care who wins this game really. I just wanna see someone on the other team get his @$$ kicked. Call Ivanans up if you have to! This is a game the habs just want to get out of the way in my opinion and welcome the long break. Perfect timing if you ask me!!!.....Interesting how both teams have 33 points and are 5th in their respective conferences....

I think you will see a big effort by the guys tonite. They know they are getting a week off so will have something extra in the tank and LA played last night. I am boldly predicting a 4-2 win tonite. Like Johab, I would not mind seeing Ivanis in the lineup tonite. I do feel we are sorely missing a physical presence. ANd-O speaks of spark on this team. Nothing lights a fire more than someone out there trhowing the body and dropping the gloves and we have missed that. By the way, what is up with Begin?!?? Used to hit everything that moves but latelyt playing like he is carrying a dozen eggs in his pants.

haha agree about begin but when you think about it, the whole team has been playing unispired

it is hard to keep laying you body on the line when the rest of the team is barely even skating.  once the team starts roilling again, begin will be on the tear again

Maybe this is why Garth Murray got called up. To knock a few guys around.

Game Preview: Canadiens vs. Kings

MONTREAL - Coming off a heart-breaking 3-2 overtime loss to the Sabres Thursday at the Bell Centre, the Canadiens (14-7-5) will be looking to bounce back on Saturday in their only meeting of the season with the L.A. Kings (16-10-1). Montreal is hoping to snap a four-game losing skid as they kick-off a string of five straight against Western Conference opponents after a strict diet of 26 games against Eastern Conference rivals to start the season. The Kings, meanwhile, are playing their third of a four-game East Coast swing. Los Angeles, who sits second in the Pacific Division behind Dallas, arrives in Montreal riding a three-game losing streak of their own, following their 5-1 loss to the Senators in Ottawa on Friday. Montreal has not been kind to the Kings since they joined the NHL back in 1967-68, with Canadiens holding a huge 45-8-11 advantage at home, including a 9-1-1 mark dating back to 1990-91.

Definitely not morning people: Hoping to exterminate the injury bug that has infected the Canadiens' dressing room of late, Claude Julien is seriously considering the idea of eliminating the traditional game-day skate, in light of the condensed 2005-06 schedule caused by the two-week Olympic break in February. Saku Koivu is the latest casualty as the Canadiens captain will miss his second straight game with a groin pull he suffered in practice on Wednesday. Radek Bonk is also more than likely to sit tonight’s game out with a groin injury that has plagued Bonk off-and-on for over a month.

Last hurrah for "Lucky Luke: One of the most prolific left-wingers in the history of the NHL, Saturday night's contest will likely be Luc Robitaille's last appearance as a player in Montreal.

"I can assure you, this will be my last game in Montreal," confirmed Robitaille, with his legendary smile.

Lucky Luke, who has scored 658 goals and recorded 1,378 points in 19 seasons, was given the night off Friday in Ottawa so he could be well-rested when facing his hometown team. In 41 regular season career games against the Canadiens, Robitaille has tallied 21 goals and 16 assists.

Who goes first? The Canadiens opened the scoring in half of their games thus far, posting a 10-1-2 record in those games, the fifth-best record in the league. The Kings, on the other hand, hold the best record when their opponents tally first. Andy Murray's troops have seen their opponents take a 1-0 lead on 16 occasions and have come back to win in nine of those games.

Back in the saddle: After a rough start to the season where he saw Jason LaBabera earn the "number one" title, Mathieu Garon has since found his form over the last month, winning six of his last eight starts. Garon, who is 8-5-0 this season, will be facing his former teammates for the first time since he was traded to Los Angeles during the summer of 2004, in return for Cristobal Huet and Radek Bonk.

Endless experience: Following Garth Murray's call-up from Hamilton earlier this afternoon, the Canadiens will have seven players in their lineup with less than 30 NHL games under their belts. Of the 12 forwards and six defenseman who will don the red-white-and-blue tonight, they will have a total of 4,261 games of NHL experience. Niklas Sundstrom is at the top of the list with 717 NHL games played. The Kings, for their part, have a roster with 6,888 games of NHL experience, with Luc Robitaille's 1,382 matchups at the top of the list.

Jose Theodore will see a familiar face at the other end of the ice, as former backup Mathieu Garon gets the start for his new team.

Remember last season when we played the Kings? Garon stole the game for us. Lets hope Garon does not have a similar performance tonight.

I think Julien-bashers might want to keep this fact in mind.

Good period for the Habs considering the circumstances, the Kings seemed to only have a slight advantage in that period.  I'm definitely happy with a 1-0 lead after one.  Shots were 9 a piece with the Kings missing the net a few times.

We have to keep getting the puck out of our end as quickly as possible, and stay out of the penalty box.  Theodore has to get those rebounds under control, although he had a good period as a whole.

Go Habs!

Gotta give Dagenais credit on the shot; he hesitated for a split second, just long enough for Garon to drop his glove, and Dagenais laser-beamed it in the vacated spot.   A sniper's shot.  Too bad the poor bugger can't skate.....................

Keep those updates coming. I appreciate it, because I usually can't watch games where the Habs aren't playing the Islanders, Rangers, Sabres, Devils or Bruins.

Why is Bonk not playing? Groin?

Not only are guys out, but a lot of guys are playing hurt it seems. (Zednik for sure - his skating looks different, maybe even Begin?, Theodore, Souray) Times are tough. so 1-0 is a nice start.

It is getting to be rediculous how we seem to have to work extra hard for our goals, and the other teams get their's some damn easy . . . 1-1, after a the puck goes in off Ribiero's skate.

Bad clearing by the Habs . . . 2-1 Kings.  Doesn't look good now, as we don't really have the offense to come back, but, we'll see.

Bad goal given up by Garon, it's about time we had help from an opposing goalie!  PP goal for Dags, second of the night!

2-2
