Two bonehead moves!
Permalink Closed

The first one was Markov's brain cramp and now Gainey's turn! Why would he expect Hainsey to clear waivers a second time when he knows he would have to pay half his wage. Jackets now pick up a first round draft choice with potential to be late bloomer for half price!

Gainey should of left him there to help out on the farm and mature until next season or use him in a trade package. Now he gives away a first round choice plus loses cap space while still paying his wage! Bonehead move on his part!

We are getting thin on the farm for prospects also!

You are correct   I no longer feel so confident in BG  or in fact CJ    things will get better  but not till next October I fear.

I still have confidence in CJ.... not as much for BG. CJ knows what he is doing, but right now, with so many players out, he doesn't have much to work with. You can't blame CJ for the lack of shooting or effort.

Yes you can balme him for lack of shooting. Hes the coach what is he telling them in practice??? Skate into the offensive zone and play ballet with the puck???? shoot one thing we cal all agree on is the only way you can score is to get the puck towards the net

You can't blame the coach on that bizarre Bulis play.  How does a guy get a breakaway and not even get a shot off?!?

Man, when you're cold, you're cold!

Ya I agree totally you guys... Bob Gainey is the dumbest man alive... He totally should have read the future and known that three of out starting defensmen wouldn't be available to play tonight. I mean what was he thinking when he called up someone to fill the spot... Wow WHAT AN IDIOT! And he should be shot for writting the rules of new CBA allowing something like this to happen. And its CJ's fault too because I don't know anyone else to blame right now. KEEP THESE POSTS COMMING BOYS I LOVE IT!

David- how did you go from your "Enough about bashing the coach" post Sunday to "We need to blame the coach today"?  Perhaps this is the easiest place to point the finger. But we have ZERO talent. Where has Koivu been since Kovalev got hurt? Has he stepped up? Wher edi Begin disappear to? Why can't Bonk hit the ocean while peeing off the end of a pier? Julien will take his share of the blame and I am sure he is from the media. But tell me what kind of team he should ice the last few games? The fact is we are terribly thin and these injuries have shown it. We have 2/3'ds of a first line that cant score without Kovalev. We have a second line that aside from Ryder, could not play industrial hockey, and we have defence that have no business wearing an NHL uniform for the most part. Throw in a goalie who Gainey signed to HUGE dollars that can't decide when he wants to play and you have  arecipe for disaster.

There is no question that CJ will get the boot and the guy doing the booting is the guy to blame, Gainey. It is my sincere hope that whatever Merlin the Magician guy you guys hope we hire comes in and works miracles. Because with what w ehave now he will need to walk on water to get wins.

You are totally over reacting and generalizing in your response!

Like you say Gainey knows the new CBA and is no dummy so why then did he still choose to call up a player that he new he would lose and still have to pay half his wage! Also lose cap room!

How many D-man did we use tonight? Figure it out! We could of used five and not lose Hainsey!

Don't try to be a big shot and sarcastically make something out of the post that isn't there!

Barry you are right about my posts. I have posted "enough on blaming the coach" to what I wrote tonight. The players are all to blame, each and every one of them.  I think I am so upset with this team ,that yes the coach is the logical one to point the finger at.  I feel there is blame to go all around. Some blame rests on Cj and BG. I blame the players more   Bonk 39 games no goals back to last season, Bullion can even hit the net, Koivu absent and the list goes on and on. I am very upset with BG over the Hainsey mess. I thought he was smarter when it came to these things. In all my rantings I have never advocated the firing of CJ and Istill think he should stay put. Of course we need to get everyone back. You know I do not know how to figure Theo , great one game down the next. Souray, Kovy are the unknowns, Komi and Markov will be back. I like CJ because he appears to be a very intelectual person when it comes to coaching. I also know he uses the cards he is dealt. So for all my rantings I stil believe CJ should stay put. It is counter productive to blame the coach and I am guilty of it just like so many others on this board. So I will take a pledge not to blame CJ and I will stick to the players. Ya, we need more posttives and less negatives   I agree ,and I agree with you barry.

Agreed, but how about the two (too be brief) bonehead moves. The ones that stuck out most in my mind was Bulis' "no-shot" and....... Theo? How about Ribs, eh?

Sorry Northwind but I wasn't talking about this game specifically but now that you mention it, it, it really doesn't matter about those plays or lack of play because there is no way we beat Sens with the team we iced. Again, I hope Gainey takes some responsiblity and reacts without canning CJ!

How could we have used 5 d without hainsey... from what I saw they still needed to call someone up and only played 5 Dmen. Whatever you say about Hainsey remember that he had plenty of chances to prove is worth and didn't do it... how does a guy like streit make the team but everyone's golden boy hainsey doesn't? There must be something there that they are not impressed with. I just hate that people can't wait until something like this happens to run all over the coaching staff and the managment all because we lost an 8th or 9th string Defensman. Man when I read about losing him I think I blinked once and got over it. I suggest everyone else does the same.

It might not have been a total bone head move to recall Hainsey .

If the Canadiens were already paying Hainsey his full salary, they free half his salary to pick up a better player perhaps .

As for C.J.,  I think if it was not for him, we would be doing a lot worse...

I have complete fate in B.G..  This team is a lot more exciting to watch then the team we had 2 years ago.  Although with all the injuries of late, this team has been a little boring to watch.

I'm not running all over the coaches and management as you are making it out to be that!

I'll repeat myself again. I'm criticizing the move to call up Hainsey only! It was bonehead! If he is as terrible as you just said then why not call up someone else with Cote! Mark my words, Jackets will be smiling when they start useing Hainsey and see how valuable he will be  especially compared to Streit! Also having Gainey pay half is wage!

Again Gainey could of used him in a trade like Barry mentioned, a 50th rounder and a case of beer rather then lose a first rounder for nothing and still repsonsible for his pay cheque! Keep in mind, while Hainsey is on the farm, it doesn't count against our cap!

It was bonehead! That is my opinion and final words on this topic!
