I made this post in another thread, and i didnt want to hijack it, so I was looking for feedback and other possible trades people were thinking about. Here was my list:
Well, there have been alot of trade rumors circulating about certain teams. With those rumors in mind I made a list of trades that wouldn't be too far off, and would better the Habs IMO.
With the Slumping Shane Doan, rumor has it Phoenix is shopping him around, we could get something like this:
To Montreal: Mike Ricci (C) $1,520,000.00 Shane Doan (RW) $3,002,000.00 Chris McAllister (D) $500,000.00
To Phoenix: 5th Round 2008 Draft Choice Cristobal Huet (G) $456,000.00 Mathieu Dandenault (D) $1,700,000.00 Jan Bulis (LW) $1,026,000.00 Mike Riebero (C) $1,178,000.00
Brain Burke has stated he isn't finshed trading players. From Anaheim we could probably see something like this:
To Montreal: (Either or..) Petr Sykora (RW) $3,116,000.00 Rob Niedermayer (C) $2,000,000.00
To The Mighty Ducks: 3rd round Draft Choice Mike Komisarek (D) $901,700.00 Jan Bulis (LW) $1,026,000.00
Florida is the most talked about team right now when concerning trades, anything with this team is possible.
To Montreal: 5th Round 2007 Draft Choice Jay Bouwmeester (D) $946,000.00 Roberto Luongo (G) $3,200,000.00
To Florida: Sheldon Souray (D) $2,128,000.00 Pierre Dagenais (LW) $550,000.00 Jose Theodore (G) $4,500,000.00
With Eric Daze potentially ending his career due to his latest injury Chicago would be looking to add extra spice to their lineup.
To Montreal: Todd Simpson (D) $600,000.00 Martin Lapointe (RW) $2,400,000.00
To Chicago: 3rd Round Draft Choice Sheldon Souray (D) $2,128,000.00 Mike Ribiero (C) $1,178,000.00
San Jose has reportely started looking for trades, with that we could probably have something look like this:
To Montreal: Marcel Goc (C) $836,000.00 3rd Round Draft Pick
To San Jose: Ratis Ivanis (RW) $450,000.00 Mike Riberio (C) $1,178,000.00
Other teams that haven't had much trade rumors going on offer a few good players we could go for.
A Boston-Montreal trade could yield something like this:
To Montreal: Nick Boyton (D) $1,750,000.00 Shawn McEachern (LW) $1,000,000.00
To Boston: Ron Hainsey (D) Pierre Dagenais (LW) $550,000.00 Mike Riebero (C) $1,178,000.00
Buffalo-Montreal has a few options that I could run down, but I'll list my favorite.
To Montreal: 3rd Round draft pick Daniel Briere (C) $1,938,000.00 Teppo Numinem (D) $2,000,000.00
To Buffalo: Radek Bonk (C) $2,394,000.00 Mathieu Dandenault (D) $1,700,000.00 Mike Riebero (C) $1,178,000.00
I heard Colorado was in talks to get theo, then I heard about Colorado trying to get Roberto from Florida. So I had a three way trade that I made, , so here is the Montreal-Colorado-Florida trade.
To Montreal: Alex Tanguay (LW) $3,230,000.00 Jay Bouwmeester (D) $946,000.00
To Florida: Cristobal Huet (G) $456,000.00 Andrew Brunette (LW) $800,000.00 Sheldon Souray (D) $2,128,000.00 Mike Riebero (C) $1,178,000.00
To Colorado: Mike Van Ryn (D) $1,064,000.00 Roberto Luongo (G) $3,200,000.00 Jan Bulis (LW) $1,026,000.00
Ok, here is the breakdown of the trade: -Montreal Trades Souray, Huet and Bulis to Colorado for Tanguay. -Colorado Trades Souray, Brunette, Huet to Florida for Luongo and Van Ryn. -Montreal trade Riebero to Florida for Bouwmeester.
Let's not get too hasty with trades... there are a couple of players that should be moved, but we really need to see what we need first. The only thing we are really in desperate need of is a right-shooting D. Trading Komisarek, Rivet or Dandenault would just exascerbate the problem. Yes, we could use an upgrade for our second-line center, but Pleks may be able to do it, so give him a chance first. We could probably use an upgrade for our 3rd line right wing, but for now, Sundstrom is solid and we should wait for the deadline and grab the sellers stuff for cheap. Our only real concern is that D position and I think moving Ribiero and Dagenais won't get us much, but might be enough for a Steve Staios or a similar number 3/4 D who is a good skater and is solid in both directions. We won't land a superstar, except maybe as a rent-a-player at the deadline and we shouldn't be trading our young assets, either. Maybe Ribiero and Dagenais, like Brisebois, just need a change of scenery and that is what we have to sell and hopefully, we can get a solid D in return. Let's not be hasty, as we are still doing OK. Gainey will make the right deal... rest assured.
Actually, nothing stops us from getting a "superstar" since alot of them come at a fair price tag these days. However I don't think I have many superstars listed in my trades. And giving up certain players like Dandy would have to be a sacrifice to get an extra punch into the offence.
I'm all for keeping our young guys, but to pull off certain trades, it might be required. We've been building up for the future for awhile now, and we still have alot of up-and commers. I think the Habs would benefit from some added veteranship. In my scenario where we would trade Kommie we'd be getting a very good forward, and there is a reason why he's only listed once in my trades, it's because I like him, but in this case, the ducks would want something they needed in return, and to pull the deal off, it would take him (Kommie) and Bulis plus a draft choice to do it.
I know Gainey will pull off a good trade, he's good. And I'm not a panicking Habs fan right now. I believe if he makes a trade soon enough to ease Kovalev back into playing, it would be beneficial to Kovalev's recovery instead of being shot into the game with 15:00+ minutes.
I like many of these ideas except I would not trade Souray. I like this: To Montreal: Nick Boyton (D) $1,750,000.00 Shawn McEachern (LW) $1,000,000.00 To Boston: Ron Hainsey (D) Pierre Dagenais (LW) $550,000.00 Mike Riebero (C) $1,178,000.00 Boyton is a tough d man.
So...exactly what would Boston be getting out of this deal?
By the way, McEachern would probably retire before he'd play for the Habs (he's a true Boston boy).
This is a stupid post... I have a better idea let's start making trades after each game. I think if we all pretended enough that we were running the team it would actually happen so I think that next game theo doesn't get a shutout we trade him to another team in our division, and if Koivu doesn't get this team fired up and they don't go on a 10 game winning streak we trade him to the Leafs for a 6th round draft pick, oh ya and next time Ribero coughs up the puck we send him to the minors, I also propose that we trade 4 of our starting defensmen for One really good defensman... so when he comes and DOESN'T save the team we can focuss our hate on one person.
I have to say though that the list of trades you proposed look really pretty and you probably spent a lot of time preparing it. But here is a tip for the future... DON'T BOTHER. I decided years ago to resign to the fact that there will never be a habs team that can live up to the expectations of its fans. I think it would be a rediculous panic-driven move for the habs to start trading off all thier young players. My god has anyone looked at the standings? THEY ARE DOING FINE... Why is it that the habs should be reorganiazing their team when there are 25 teams in the league with worse records. Get real... IF Gainy does make a move it won't be because know-it-alls on this board told him to. People make me laugh.

To be honest Nil d, I think Barry33 already tried the nice approach and look what that got him. Sometimes things have to be blunt for the point to get across. Im glad its Gainey running the team cuz if it were these guys we would be in a much deeper hole then some think we are in now. 8 Games over .500 isnt a hole to me....

I never said the habs were doing bad, and before you jump all over the "stupid" thread of mine, take a look at other threads where I've stated they are doing fine and there isn't anything to worry about.
Also as a first post you set yourself up as an ass. I wasn't asking you to be flat out rude, if you want to say my trades are far off, fine. Don't say it's stupid.
