Do we have to beg for a 2nd line centre???

Honestly!?!?!? And-o shudders to think of what might happen versus the Leafs tonight with our "honey dipped donut" line-up (as in, BIG hole in the middle)!

Ribs is just plain awful...and has very little trade value now...and does Koivu look de-energized or what (which is no bloody wonder with the likes of Ribs as a #2)???!!!!

And-o truly felt that Radek Bonk would have fit that slot...but obviously he has went exclusively towards a defensive role...which is EXACTLY what has been asked of him by CJ and BG! Perhaps this will change...but the Habs need help NOW...and LONGTERM!

How long will this team be able to compete without a threat in the middle???

Why not suck up the pride...and bite the bullet here....package up some quality assets like maybe Kostitsyn and Danis for a bonafide #2 guy so that we can put an end to this nonsense!????

Well And-o you are not too far off the mark. So far Ribs hasn't been up to the challenge this year.

I agree with you 100%. At this point Julien would give his right arm for a real second line center. This, however, is entirely is Gainey's decision at this stage. With the personell Julien currently has at his disposal, sadly Ribero is it for now. Bonk is exactly where he is doing the team the most good right now. Checking role on the 3rd line and penalty killing (which with the amount of penalties teh Habs are taking is giving Bonk a ton of ice time). Begin is a 4th line center on any team and serves his purpose. The only option CJ has right now is to put different wingers with Ribero and try that.

I agree, Ribs game is totally off. What's even more sad is that he thinks he's as good as his line number would indicate

Wish there was a hot prospect in Hamilton we could bring up.

Like I said a few days ago, Pleks deserves a chance at the #2 spot. He can win faceoffs and plays well at both ends of the rink. However, he doesn't speak french and in Montreal if we put him there, watch out...

This year? Ribero got some points a couple os seasons ago, but he always was a puffed up guy with limited ability. This guy sucked even that season really. Like I said, he would need at least 80-90 points/season to make up for his other useless attributes. not the paltry 65 he got that season!

Pleks had two really good chances, that I saw, in the Sabres game. He definetly deserves a chance at #2.

Plekanec deserves a shot:

-he's faster and more physical than Ribeiro

-he always works hard

-he's great on faceoffs

-he seems to be a mature, team guy

-he's pretty skilled and creative

-ok, he's a little raw, but right now more of an all-around guy than Ribeiro, and I think he's earned it with his decent play while being shuffled all around the lineup constantly.
