Did anyone else think choosing Dagenais as third star was a joke? (Other than that writer from the "other Board"?)
Other than the shootout goal (and I would argue Theo's saves won the shootout more than Dagenais' goal), what did he do? Keep the bench warm for the other guys who actually do get off it a bit?
I was wondering if the 3 star selections were decided before or after a shootout, when there is one. Now I know. Kinda stupid, methinks..........

Dagenais himself joked about it. When told he made history (for getting the first Montreal shootout goal) he said he made history for playing 3 shifts and getting a star. So, did he deserve it? Maybe, maybe not. But shows that he understands that he's really in tough.
i only watched the last 10 min of the 3rd period and on so i didn't see him play at all until the shootout. hearing his name called by the anouncers for the shootout was a bit of a surprise but not as much of a surprise as hearing his name for the third star. but maybe this will motivate him to play better and with more heart from now on? guess we'll see but im more concerned whether this win will get the habs back on track. got a tough next few games ahead of us so it should be interesting to see if we can bounce back against the leafs on saturtday. by the way anyone know when kovy is expected back?
If he only plays the shootouts and gets goals like he did yesterday, they can name him the first star for all I care. Stupid, yes, but hey 2 points aint so bad.
I agree John M. Kinda ludicrous considering he did not break a sweat all night but I would give him all 3 stars if he keeps scoring in the shootout. On the other hand, it is quite obvious that Dagenais is not in the Habs plans and will be gone as soon as thye have enough bodies back.

Yup as you said, he's a filler this year and that is all. He won't be a Hab next year guaranteed.
Even if all he does is play 2 -3 minutes and the shootout, he is more valuable in the "new" NHL (god i hate that term) than the goon who used to be in that spot for most teams.

Great point, beak. I always hated carrying a goon. Fights are overrated, anyway, and really have nothing to do with hockey. I good solid bodycheck was a much more effective way to send a message, I think. So carrying a sharpshooter instead of a fitsticuff makes sense to me.

I wanted to post this too (but today was a busy day at work ... prepping for a big presentation but I digress).
Third star? Puh-leeeze. i'm beginning to think the Molson Cup is major joke. i mean, he plays 2 minutes, and is selected on the shootout list, and yeah he scores, but c'mon a star???? What is this pee-wee hockey???
Who made the selection? It has to be CKAC (their French language radio rights broadcasters).
