Ask The Team990's Tony Marinaro a question
Permalink Closed

On November 29, when the Habs play in Ottawa, I will have the opportunity to ask Montreal Sports radio The Team990's Canadiens beat reporter, Tony Marinaro a few questions (for an upcoming blog I'm working on).

I'm opening up some of the questions to all GOHABS.com message board posters.

If there's a question you'd like me to ask, please let me know.

I will then post the questions (and who is asking the question), with Tony's response.

I'll try to ask as many questions as I can.

Ask him about the atmosphere in Ottawa.  The team is a total powerhouse, has skill, size and grit - yet you can hear a pin drop during play at the corel center.  It is mind-blowing that the are still having a hard time selling tickets and getting fans "excited" about the product on the ice.

You noticed that too? The corel center SUCKS! and the fans there are so boring. I noticed one day when i was watching the habs game on RDS and the Leafs Sens game was on CBC. I switched to CBC to see the score and it was dead silent yet the game was so fast paced and hard hitting i barely wanted to go back to the habs game. When i finally switched back i was greeted to the chants of GO HABS GO during a 0-0 game against i believe is was Buffalo. The place was roaring and nothing was happening. Quick fact.....Montreal is yet to not sell-out a game this season...GO HABS GO

That is because winning or losing this team is electrifying, as are the fans!!!!

I hope I'm not going to offend anyone from Ottawa, but here goes:

The reason the Corel Centre is boring is because Ottawa fans are boring. The reason they are boring is because it's Ottawa. Ottawa itself is boring.

Plouf I totally agree. When the Habs had their farm team in Fredericton, NB the arena was lime a funeral. Some people even complained to management that the music was too loud. What I attribute this to is the fact that it is a government town, like Ottawa, and people tend to be very reserved..scared someone may see them getting excited.

as opposed to montreal which is a party city all the time. i mean all the bars, the festivals and everything else. Montreal is probably one of the most fun cities in the world. Definately be my fav even if the Canadiens didnt exist...what a scare thought that is though!!! AAAAHHH
