get rid of him what the hell this team is floundering badly they need an infusion. new blood on d make some trades this week. you could see this coming.
This is another case where panicking boo-birds always hurt the Habs.
Streit is new to the NHL. By many accounts he has what it takes to be a decent #5-6 at the NHL level. I don't know why people expect that to be the case in his first 20 games or so. He's actually showing signs of improvement.
Patience folks. With an inexperienced team, the old Montreal formula of "demand instant excellence or boo" doesn't always work. It's one thing in 86 when we still had Tremblay, Gainey, Robinson, etc... but right now Kovalev is our oldest player (!)
Look at Brisebois. His head was permanently messed up by it and now he's flourishing in Colorado. I don't even want to mention previous targets John LeClair, Jonas Hoglund, to name the first two that pop into my head. We all know how many others there are on that list...
Oh, and I'd just like to add that many Hab fans didn't think Bouillon had what it took to be a #6 d-man either, and look at him now...a legitimate #3-5 for most teams. Remember when Bouillon started? People were tearing their hair out wondering why this guy who was both tentative and tiny was even getting a shot, demanding that we get rid of him, etc...
I don't think we should necessarily trade him. I say send him to Hamilton and call up Hainsey. He can't do any worse. Plus, if Hainsey sucks and Streit somehow becomes good, he'll still be within the orginization.
geesh boys listen to yoruselves..sit Souray..dump Streit..any idea WHO will play defence once we sit or send down all these dmen? Dagenais on the point perhaps? Huet maybe? As for Hainsey he was not good enough to play here in October, not sure he is now.

Hey guys, what's going on here? I kept quiet so far but now as I saw Streit playing in November, I must say he steadily improved. He will become better the more ice time he gets. I saw some other guys in our d who did worse. The one two d-men that really impressed me were Markov and Bouillon.
I agree on Brisebois, but you could always tell he had talent. And now look at him. Convincing top 4 defenseman now that he isn't getting booed every night. He must be loving Colorado.
there is a lot of pressure in montreal to play well. sometimes it takes a move to break out boston traded scratchard for tanabi they are in freefall and beginning to worry all that talent and losing 8 in a row on road

Looks good on them , though!

Decent teams don't become great teams (and they certainly don't win Stanley Cups) by being "patient" and making excuses for bonehead players. Mark Streit is not only inexperienced and short on talent, he's just not a smart player — which scares me most of all. The kids on my son's squirt team know better than to throw a puck in front of your own net.
He may be the best the Habs can put on the ice right now, and I won't argue that Hainsey or anyone else in Ham-Town can do better. But if he is the best available, we can kiss our hopes of any playoff bravura goodbye. The team is in a defensive tailspin, from the net on out. Part of the problem is an offense that has lost its command presence. Another part is a lack of skill and brains on the blueline. The question is not whether or not Streit should go, it's who BG is going to get to shore up this team's defense. The road ahead will be a bumpy one without a good bit of improvement there, I think.

Gotta disagree with you there.
Patience is what brought the cup to Tampa Bay. Patience with Richards, with Lecavalier, you name it. A lot of patience. Patience is how loyalty is developed.
Obviously it can cut both ways. All I'm saying is that Montreal tends to be too impatient. With other teams it's often the opposite problem.
At best, Streit is a number 5-6 defenseman. Who knows, he might be an ok one, like Bouillon...It's just too early to be absolutely sure is all I'm saying.
