The Habs have lost 3 out of their last 4 games. I know some of you will say we got 2 points out of the 3 losses but to me a loss is a loss. Come playoff time there is no such thing as free points.
Habs vs Pitts - Thibault steals game for Pitts
Habs vs TO - Belfour keeps Leafs in game until they can win
Habs vs FLA - Danis keeps Habs in game until they can win
Habs vs NJ - Brodeur makes the key saves when NJ is in the lead to hold on for the win.
I think everyone gets the point made above. Goaltending still wins games in the new NHL. 25% of the season is gone and Theo hasn't really won any games for the Habs (1 or 2 tops).
When crunch time hits and you don't have the goaltending, you will either end up out of the playoffs or out in the first round.
There is no quick solution for the Habs. They need to play Theo, he is the #1 goalie in MTL and is being paid as a top 3 goalie in the league. He needs to find his game or the great start the Habs have had so far will be for not. I thought he had turned the corner but obviously his game still needs work.
All of us Habs fans are waiting for the REAL Theo to please stand up. Please stand up and stop letting the shots go over your shoulders!
Looks good when looking at pts in games. If you watch the games you would know things don't look that great. Most wins are by 1 goal so Habs can't put away teams, etc, etc, etc...
JohnM, I was thinking the same thing. We barely win games. And most nights the win comes from Koivu and solid play from rookies. Theo has only stolen one game this season. Ribero should be in Youppi's outfit.
Ya the record looks good but I just think those numbers are a bit deceptive. We have been operating with one solid line(Koivu) and solid efforts from the rookies as well as really good grinders like Begin. But our goaltending has been average and our second scoring line smells like rotten tuna. So unless Theo finds his A game and Ribero finds his....well I'm not sure what he will find, but we do need a real second line center.
How can a player who has the puck put himself offside??? Ribs did it in the second period. Does anyone think(besides me) that the Habs took Washington too lightly. From the goalie out, the Habs had been stinking up the place up until Ryder's goal. Probably too little too late but lets hope they can score a few more in the 3rd.
Geez folks...we are making Toronto fans look good. At least they aren't this insecure.
The season is long. Bounces were going our way before. Now they're not. Etc...I'm sure things will pick up. If our record after 20 games is hardly enough to justify picking us for the finals, our play in the last few games is hardly enough to pronounce our doom.
I know I am concerned that the discipline on this team has been lost. I guess the coaching staff is responsible for getting the team up for the games. I know it is only a week since the bad play started. I just do not want to see a prolonged lull, of course the Bruins are having major problems too
