I remember you stating that Saks is playing hurt before the Panthers game. Can you elaborate on that? What kind of injury is this? Source? Just curious my friend!
Hey AB, the source was RDS. They stated that he was playing injured but that the team was not revealing the injury. If you watch him, you can tell he is a bit off. He's not able to dangle like he did before that game. They haven't mentioned anything since. Let me try to find some more details.
…by the way, long before RDS reported that Saku has been playing hurt, And-o posted that Koivu’s game was showing signs of wear and tear. I noted that he was far more passive along the boards (as in poking at the puck) and I commented that he looked off-balance quite allot (as in looking to avoid contact too much).
Yet, though being SPOT-ON in his assessment, And-o was accused of harboring some sense of sick and twisted opportunism (especially since he just lives to see Saku fail).
Anyway, RDS decided to report the obvious…Saku was battling through some sort of injury in the games leading up to the game versus Toronto (which miraculously coincided with a brief point scoring slump).
And-o gives BIG kudos to Koivu for gutting it out and getting the job done…but this is not “news”.
While And-o hopes that Saku’s mysterious ailment was nothing serious at all (eg flu related, fatigue), my gut tells me it was something severe enough to affect his skating and play (hence the avoidance of casual contact) but not bad enough to sit out. The usual suspects in this case would be back spasms, soreness/stiffness (in the joints, groin or stomach) or….gulp….knee pain!!!
Yup I do recall you mentioning something about that. I think it might have been mixed in with some Sak bashing, just kidding Andy you are giving props to the man who deserves it.
What the... That post just dripped of bizzare undertones. I never recall you rabbiting on about Koivu looking hurt. Constantly yabering on about how he will soon get hurt yes, but never being SPOT ON about how he is playing currently.
In any case, everyone can get hurt playing at this level. Sorry And-o but these posts, although clocked with "he has heart" and "big kudos", still have a weird feeling about them. Perhaps you should talk to a shrink. Have you ever been attacked by a smallish Finnish man in your past? You should look into it.
