The Ducks just packaged Sergei Fedorov along with a 5th round selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for right winger Tyler Wright and defenceman Francois Beauchemin.
It's not like Fedorov was having a stellar season, guys... While I think Anaheim lost out in this trade, I don't think Sergei is going to resume his old Detroit ways in Columbus either. Didn't Beauchemin used to play for the Habs?
Obviously Federov will not play as well as he did in Detroit because he's that much older now. But I still think based on what Columbus gave up to aquire him, they definitely got the better end of that trade.
And I bet Columbus is hoping to spark one of their young guns, Zherdev, who has oodles of offensive potential, with this move. Should bode well for Columbus.
