Can Anyone Play with Ottawa This Year?
Permalink Closed

Ok folks- off day for the Habs so I thought I would focus on another team in our division, that being the Ottawa Senators. My question is this. Can anyone play with these guys this season (including the Habs)? From where I see it they are the strongest team that the NHL has seen in mamny, many years. They have the strongest top line in hockey and everything to go with it. Toughness, depth, grit and defence. And now they have a goaltender in Hasek which was the missing piece of the puzzle in past years. If there is a weakness in this team I am unable to find it. Bryan Murray has them playing a much better team game and system then Jacques Martin ever did.

I guess in a nutshell, I do not see  team that can beat them on a regular basis. You may steal a win if you catch them on an off night but thats it. (And no, not Detroit. Detrroit is good but they do not have the weapons that Ottawa has).

If their main men stay healthy they'll take some beating, but as we just found out with the Kovalev situation (as if we needed reminding) injuries can seriously disrupt a teams rythm.

That i strue, however the Sens can afford to lose an Alfredson alot more than we can afford to lose a Kovalev. Thye have alot more depth.

I'd like to see Detroit take a run at the Sens... that could be an interesting match-up.

Yes - Carolina has beaten them twice.  So that makes 2 - Montreal being the other.

Also note that the Habs are basically even with them after tonight.

What a season. I can't remember anything like this since the 93 playoff run.
