More PhotosBUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Tim Connolly scored two goals, including the winner, and the Buffalo Sabres snapped a four-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday night.

It was the first two-goal game for Connolly, who missed the entire 2003-04 season with a concussion.

Connolly, who also added an assist, scored his second of the game and fourth of the season nearly seven minutes into the third. He made a nifty move inside the Toronto blue line to go around defenseman Ken Klee, and backhanded the puck past goalie Ed Belfour.

Chris Drury, Mike Grier and Thomas Vanek also scored for the Sabres, who won for only the second time in eight games after starting the season 6-2.

Teppo Numminen added three assists for Buffalo.

Alex Steen and Eric Lindros scored for the Maple Leafs, who lost their fourth straight road game.

Toronto will come out strong in the first period. We need to handle the puck well to win this one. Sundin's back, right?

I watched the third period of that game. That disallowed goal was a terrible call and I hope that the team complains to the league. Even though it made no difference to the outcome, goals like that are important to a players individual stats and in this case it was (i think) Vanek who would have ended up with a 2 goal game.

Zulrath, that goal being called back was so bad even the biased TSN guys couldn't believe it. I was watching and I couldn't believe they called it back. Later on they said it was for a guy being in the crease and I love what they said on TSN in regards to that call. They said it was clearly an excuse they made up to try to save themselves.
