Credit the Penguins!

Pittsburgh absolutely nullified our top line.

In fact, Koivu (for example) didn't even record a shot in over 20 minutes of icetime...including loads of powerplay time!  (A thousand pardons please for stating a negative fact about Saint Saku)

Also, keep in mind that the Penguins were playing back-to-back games (and the first half was a road game I think???).

And, playing Thibault was a HUGE gamble...yet he clearly outplayed Theodore...including some point blank saves...and a great shootout performance!

Credit Pittsburgh.....they really did earn their 2 points!

And O- how can you sit here and say that Thibeaut outplayed Theo?!???????? We never put any pressure on until the 3rd and hot at least 4 posts. Explain that to me please? Theo stood on his head including pint blankers off of Crosby, Lemieux and Palffy, 3 of the best in the business. The 2 goals in regulation were essentially unstoppable and if anyone can name a goalie in the NHL or anywhere else on the planet who could have stopped Crosby's shootout goal I would love to sign him.

Yes The Pens were coming off a road loss. But I have always said that I hate playing a wounded animal and the Pens were that. They tired on the 3rd but by then it was too late.

Hey Barry33...I was thinking of the point blank saves Thibault was making...combined with the shootout performance.

I never said that Theo SHOULD have stopped Crosby on his shot...but Thibault stopped the Habs 3 best chances...compared to Theo stopping 2 of 3!!!  Hey...isn't that a song????

I thought Theo played a great game last night. The rest of the team had trouble. Crosby's goal in the shootout was poetry in motion.

I'm going to see that water bottle flying straight up in the air, in my dreams forever.   That was highlight-reel stuff.  Wow.

In fact in OT Theo stopped crosby on the same type of shot. Theo went butterfly and the left pad stopped him. Crosby made the same move and went upstairs thats the difference.

If you're always going to pick Koivu as your "random" example, please spare us the "thousand pardons."

Let's see....I've heard "Koivu was tired" or "Koivu didn't play well" or "Koivu was shut down" etc...far more often than complaints about Kovalev, Ribeiro, Ryder, and others from the top two lines who have actually had some SERIOUS off nights.

Saying consistently positive things about 0goal3assists-alotofminutes Radek Bonk and consistently negative things about Koivu calls your credibility into question.

Not to say I don't agree that this was a stinker of a game for Koivu. Although actually more of one for his linemates.
