Its never to early to start talking about a game! Right?

I don't know about this one. I am not familiar with the way that the Pengiuns have been playing. Should be a good one.

As always, I would like to see Kovy and Souray step up.

Here's all you need to know about the Penguins, summed up in two words:

                                 Sidney Crosby

This is the game I've looked forward to all year.  Can't wait.  It's even on TSN.

Well the Thrashers blew them out tonight so safe to say there will be some extra fight in the Pens tomorrow night.  Truth is Pens could be a good team if they had a goalie.  Caron is a backup trying to fill a starters role.  I think the Pens need to trade with Buffalo to get a starter.

My Prediction - HABS WIN 6 to 3.

I can't stress enough the importance of blanking Crosby tonight!

This kid has been a life long Hab fan...and And-o sees the potential for this kid to take it upon himself to show-off versus the Habs everytime he plays them!

If Crosby shines tonight...it could signal the beginning of a MAJOR issue for years in terms of dealing with him (like Vinny LeCavalier).  If not...he could get snake bitten versus the Habs...which would be great!

(if only it were that easy to shut him down)

We don't only have to worry about Crosby. Remember they have a guy named Mario.... who always lights it up against the Habs.

The Habs need to keep them out of the D zone especially when the Ribs line is on the ice. Souray and Komi could have the toughest time tonight against Sid the Kid.

Whoever starts for PIT is going to lose.  I hope the Habs don't take this game too lightly, like I am, but I think the Habs are a heavy favourite.  First blow out of the year and a good break for some players once the big lead is built.  Mario is good, but if he is not able to keep up then what use is he?  And if Sid's got no one to pass to?  I call the demolition game tonight.  7-1.  Everyone scores and has a great time.  They are not about to lose their first game on the road in PIT!!

An update - Dagenais will not be in PIT tonight (sorry Ando, he has the flu).  Bonk will be in, Bulis out.

Bonk is in Dags is out great news, but any word on how long bulis is out, would sure love to see him Saturday night, I know i'm looking ahead but everytime we beat the buds its a great day.  Just heard Caron is out for tonight due to injury.  Pens will come out flying especially after getting killed last night 5-0 to the thrashers. Close game again tonight and hopefully a major blow out Saturday night.

Im sorry, last time a checked Kovy was our best offensive player. How exactly whould you like him to step it up? That made no sense at all. You want a player to step it up? How about Ryder? Or Dagenais? These guys arent doing much at the moment.

i think Kovy can step it up. he doesn't play a full game, sure he has got some great offesnsive stats but there are times when i see him lay off the forecheck. he is great but he can be better if he wanted. He only plays when he wants too.

We all wish we could see the Kovalev we saw in the playoffs for 82 games a year.  But it just isn't possible to play playoff hockey for 82 games and have anything left in the tank at the end of it.  Right now Kovalev is doing what is necessary to win in the regular season.  When playoffs come I am sure him, Saku, and Zed will find that extra gear they always seem to have in the playoffs.

Wow . . . habs are being totally outplayed so far.

1-0 Pens with PP goal.

Mtl looks like they're skating at half speed.  Julien better start some cheerleading on the bench or this one could be over early.

C'mon Habs, get in the game . . . start skating and play smart!

This is pathetic. Montreal looks like crap!!!! They arent skating, they arent shooting, heck they are lucky if they can keep the puck in the Pens zone right now. This and all against what has been one of the worst teams in the league. These are gimme games that Habs HAVE to win, you will squeak a few points from teams like Ottawa, Tampa, Boston and so on but when you play Pittsburg you HAVE to win. Hope they turn it around in the 3rd!!!

And the Oscer goes to... Zigmund Palfy, Markov barely touched him and he goes down like he was shot.

Dandy has got to watch his stick, he deserved a penelty, and he needs to get some offence going.

Bonk had some good shifts he just needs to get some of those bounces in.

............ and yet they are a couple of goal posts and a chintzy goal away from getting out of that period tied.  Man did Sid ever put a move on Markov on his first shift!

Two observations: (1) Former Habs - Recchi, Leclair, and Thibault could kill them tonight, and (2) What the hell was that power play?! Koivu, Dandenault, Bonk and Streit?!?!

Look at my post above before the game started.

We have to be realistic as Habs fans and not think they will win every game. This game is one of those games a team takes lightly and shouldn't. Mario and Sid the Kid, watch out Red, White and Blue.

This could be a blowout or NOT!

both goals were indirectly caused by streit

this guy sucks, i see no reason why he is in the lineup
he dosnt do anything special on the power play thats for sure

I have to agree.  Send him to Hamilton!

And what's with the power play combinations?  Different guys every time; and some strange ones, too - Dandenault, Bonk, etc.

Of course, who am I to second-guess Coach Julien?  I'm sure HE knows what he's doing, even if I don't.

I like streit, theres just something about him, i think its because hes always been the underdog, noone ever expected this guy to make it. yet here he is. i just hope he can pick it up and start scoring. The first goal was a bonehead play by him, but i don't see how the second goal was his fault he wasn't in the box, that was markov in the box.

funny thing, the score isnt THAT bad, yet im still pissed off. The habs are being outskated everywhere on the ice, our offense cant get anything going, even though we are outshooting them right now, you cant really say we've had quality chances. I REALLY hope Montreal doesnt look like this on Saturday, because the Leafs will REALLY hand it to you. Especially the way they're playing right now.

They need to come out flying in the first few mins and tie it up. Then stay strong defensively and get a break and take the lead. Where did Thibealut come from I had no idea he was in their organization. I hate when you play against former players (Leclair, Theibeault, Recchi) they will always try harder to beat you. Just like I wanted to beat Lecavalier I want even more to beat Leclair who has haunted us in so many Flyers games we need this game  I say we make it 2-2 and with a strong defense we get a 3-2 lean and I am sorry another nail biter

Hey . . . we got a point we really didn't deserve as far as I'm concerned.

Next up, the Leafs!  And Mtl had better be ready, they should be rested.
