Skating in quicksand
Permalink Closed

I was watching Pierre Dagenais "skate" last night, on one play where he actually had the puck for two seconds or so.  I must say, he was painful to watch.  If there's a worse skater in the NHL, I'd like to see him - NOT!  If it wasn't for his shot, he'd be toiling in the East Coast League - or lower.

There's got to be someone better on the farm to bring up to fill holes.

...I think that "skating in quicksand" most accurately describes Dagenais when he is attempting to turn or dodge a check...but And-o thinks that Dagenais looks more like he has hit a patch of slush when he is "taking off"!!!

Nil'd and And-o agree though...Dagenais skates like And-o's sister (and that is no knock against the ladies who play)...that is just a sad truth!

However...that said...Dagenais has an absolute cannon for a shot...and And-o cannot describe it but the guy (when given a regular shift) just seems to have a "nose for the net".  Perhaps he is a victim of the new rules...because I remember most everyone supporting his PP time...and his role on the second line.

....in fact, I remember stretches where he was one of about only 3 Habs who would ever go to the net in a scramble!!!

And-o has mixed emotions about Dagenais....And-o just wishes Dagenais could skate better so that he could have a role besides "fill-in"!!!
