I caught a little of the Bulldogs/Marlies game last night, and the announcers started talking about Hainsey and how this could be his final season to make the jump to the big club.

I am having a tough time finding his historical stats, but wasn't he a first round pick?  What has his game been lacking?  I remember him spending some time in Montreal, but what was it that kept him in Hamilton?

Obviously, as a defensemen, having a minus 5 for the season (10 games in) isn't going to gain you any favour with the club.

Methinks it was lack of effort and heart.  He was very highly touted by this very fan board when he first came about.  The something else came about - Komisarek - and we saw what a real up and coming D should look like.  Hainsey is all but a lost cause (thus no one taking him off waivers.)  But for every 1st rounder you lose, you get a Ryder in return (8th round, right.)  Drafts are as much a gamble as anything some times.  Hainsey could still be a respectable player but he has to grow and do it fast.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Go to Hockeydb.com.  It's a fascinating site.  There's a link on the cover page of this very site (under Stats).
