Game Thread - FLA vs MTL Nov 1
Permalink Closed

Although the Habs will be playing for a 3rd time in 4 days, I don't think that will be a factor.  It is early in the season and, to be franck, in 4 of the last 6 periods they haven't spent all that much energy :P.  Okay, maybe a little.

A strong possibility that Danis will start tonight regardless of the great performance of Theo last night.  No sense in overplaying Theo so early in the year either.  It will probably be a game like last night, with it being tight until the flood gates are kicked open.  Another win for the Habs tonight.  5-3 with the usual suspect tallying for Montreal (2-3 points each for the first line, and goals from each of the 2nd and 3rd.)  Is this too general?  Oh well.  I have to work nights to I only read the reports most times.  GO habs.

third game in four nights in my opinion will be a test. Comming up against a team who has lost there last two games, and giving up about 38 shots per night.

I know theodore is due for a break, however i can see Theo talking Julien into starting him tonight to go mano a mano vs. luongo.
they have to shut down Horton and Jokinen thats for sure

it would be great to see a win. it'll show a measure of consistancy that this team didnt have during the past couple seasons

I watched a bit of the Panthers game last night, man they can skate with most teams and have alot of young talent.  Watch out for Roberts, that man has lots of heart and plays just like Begin.  We'll also need the 30 or more shots as we all know how good Luongo is.   The cats d-man are weak but fairly mobile, need to crash the net and get or pp in gear.  Horton and Weiss would look nice in Habs jersey, good young talent.

Good post ray!  I watched highlites of Roberts against the Laffs and he played hungry with grit and heart. Too bad they lost! Roberts is a great leader and has the respect of the younger guys.

I look for a 5-1 win tonite. Luongo will be just average in front of the hometown crowd. I say Danis starts and plays well and I look for a huge game form the Koivu line tonite. Koivu pots 2 and Kovalev another

there is no reason for us not to win tonight.  good teams beat the teams that are below them.  i'm not saying that florida is no good, just that the habs have more talent and a better all round team.  we should have enough energy left over from the last 2 games to play hard tonight at home.  theo should start tonight as well, maybe start him on a roll.

we need to get that killer instinct....up by 2 with a 5-3 pp with the potential to put florida down and out, instead we do nothing and florida gets some momentum and gets back in the game.

i think we are playing a pretty good game so far but i would love to see them just pound a team once in awhile.

Things I like- believe it or not I LIKE Kovalev on the penalty kill. He is big and strong and very smart in his positioning. And everytime he is out there he is a threat to score and that takes away from the other teams' PP. Also like Rivet on the PP. By the way I have not heard you Rivet bashers this year! Why you ask? Simply because behind Markov he is our best defenceman. I say that Rivet is the most imrpved hab over 2 years ago boys..cmon..give credit where it is due. He is steady out there, doe snot get caught out of position..hits, and is contributing offensively.

Things I do not like- the amount of diving in the league with the new rules. Take that last penalty on Sundstrom. As soon as the player felt a stick on him down he goes because he knows it will be called. Worst part is the refs are falling for it. I have not seen a dive called yet this year.

My suggestion is to play Ribs and Dags in PP situations only. Everytime they are on the ice together 5-5, they are hemmed into their zone.

Either that or seperate the two. Dags doesn't warrant being on the 2nd line 5-5. Put Pleks/Higgs/Perez up there.

Words cannot describe what Begin brings to this team. I'm still in shock at that goal. 8 seconds left... I definitely haven't been that excited in awhile!

I think Kardiac Kids explains it well, because I almost had a heart attack, I'm too young for this lol

Boy was that exciting, even on the radio. I can just imagine what it was like to actually watch. One question though, what is it with all those penalties we seem to be picking up? Please explain, Barry ,anyone...

some of those calls were pretty iffy.  but just when you think we are down and out, begin to the rescue!!!!!!!  what a different feeling from the past few years to know we have a chance in every game right down to the last buzzer.

what a game.....9-3-1!

Les Boys really messed with my mind tonight, because for most of the game I was thinking "alright, we should be able to hold on and finish here with a 9-3-1 record, great!" Then late in the game I thought "alright, we can come back, but 8-4-1 isn't bad" OT Came along and i thought "8-3-2 is decent" but we ended up back at square one, you can never tell with this group!

Actually as far as penalties go I feel we are doing ok..aside from the odd brain carmp (see Ryder last night, Theo the night before) most of the penalties we have gotten have simply been due to the new rules. The positive thing I see though is that we have a very good powerplay and that the refs are calling it both ways so we get our share of chances. Last night it was a pitiful call in Overtime when Bouillon tripped on his own stick.

But all in all I feel that discipline wise we have one of the best teams in the league.

Thehabit here living in Toronto my backs against the wall with all these make b leafs fans and its good to know here at GO HBS .com the love is still in the air.  Tough game next the buffaloes they must be piping mad after that ugly display of hockey.  Habs have to be on guard as they will be all cranked up, although there having goalie trouble.  I think Daniel Briere would look good in a habs jersey in a few years to come.  Bye hab heads thehabit out
