Well there will be much heated debate here as to why Theo is starting the game and only the coaching staff can answer it but I will offer a theory. They need Theo to bounce back and the way to do that is to put him right back in. Let's not kid ourselves. Like it or not our fortunes this year rest on his shoulders. They need him to excel and get his confidence back. And sitting him against the Rangers will not do it. I predict the kid bounces back in fine style. However, do not look for CJ's patience to be as good as it was Saturday night if he falters.

I agree; Theo needs to get back on his horse.

All three goals last night were soft, but I can see why he whiffed on the second one (Jagr's goal).  Jagr whiffed on the shot himself; it was almost like trying to catch a knuckleball - or maybe more like a batter being fooled by a change-up (to continue the baseball analogy).  The puck came at Theo slower than anticipated, and he waved his glove too fast.  In short, he wasn't behind the play, as some have suggested; he was ahead of it.  Barry, Johab, you guys are goalies; did you see it that way too?

Nilsey- I see one big problem right now with Theo. Timing.  Earlier I saw him commiting way too soon. Going down sooner than he had to soon and they are either going over his shoulder or just walking around him. That is what happened on the goakl you described. His timing is off and he is out on front of it. Chiefe cause for your timing being off is lack of confidence. Which baffles me because the Ottawat game he appeare dto have it back.

I still can't shake the feeling that if Jagr had gotten good wood on that shot, Theo would have nabbed it.  Oh well, what if's are pointless.  BTW, you're closing in on your 100th post, barry33.  I'll raise a Keith's Lite on Tuesday for you.

the only reason i wouldn't start theo is because i think we need him to play tommorow. i know Florida has less offensive power but they have better goaltending, it will be a tight game against florida and i think we need an A goalie. Or Theo could just play two in a row.

I think he had a day off already when he came out early.  So no suprise either way if Theo or Danis start vs FLA.  Either way, it's an easy win for the Habs.

Tonight in NY will be a good test for Theo.  As long as he leaves the past behind him we'll do fine.  I've gotten the last 2 scores right, but for the wrong teams.  But, I really think this will be a 4-2 Habs night.  If everyone is on then could be a blow out.  NY only has 1 line (and Moore) so we just need to put a stick in the spokes of them guys with some solid play and we'll be good.  Nothing fancy please (except Kovy, Perez and Koivu) and everyone else please shoot the lights out.

this will be a good test for theo and the habs. it the first real chance to bounce back after a couple of losses in a row.  a good team can always pull it together and i think the habs will do it tonight.

hopefully this will be the first of another string of victories.

go habs go!

OK boys have a smash of the Captain for me now....looks like CJ made the right move going right back with Theo. He is back and that is good. I do see the team not moving their feet very well. Rangers seem to have a step on them. I know alot of you guys like Boiullon Cube but I tell you he is sucking the big one out there tonite. Loved the hit Komo threw on Moore even though it resulted in a penalty. Welcome to the NHL Moore. Maybe next time you will not stand and admire a pass.

Way to wipe out a PP opporunity Dags, what is he doing out there on the PP anyway.

Habs don't look too sharp tonight, good thing Theo has seemed to have bounced back from a very poor showing on Saturday.   We need these two pts, c'mon Habs, start playing with some passion.

Both teams look a little flat.

There's nothing more frustrating to watch than a hot goaltender on the opposition and quite frankly Lundqvist is annoying the **** out of me. >_<

Well two things..Theo and that idiot playing goal for the Rangers...I am betting when he has a crap after the game the horseshoe gets caught in the drain..but all in all I think the habs are playing a solid road game and will pull it out in the 3rd.

if only we had a pp with some puck movement.

i can't beleive how bad it looks tonight, 5-3 and souray shoots three times in a row while we have no one in front of the net.

c'mon guys, put it down low and get the goalie moving across the net and get some players in front of him. i don't know what they have been doing in practice but you would think it would include working on their pp

Lovely, stupid penalty by Theodore puts the Habs down by 2 men for over a minute 10 minutes left up by 1 . . .

Damn!  As I was typing Rangers score . . . 1-1, with NY still on the PP.

What a way to possibly totally screw this game up.  We have to kill the Theo penalty if we want a chance for at least a point as far as I'm concerned with the way the Rangers goalie has been playing.

How awesome has Begin's play been this season? He may not be the most talented, but the guy gives 110% every game. What a great grit guy to have.

Overall, it was a boring first two periods but picked up a lot in the third. Nice road win for the Habs.

Demers calling Begin the heart of the team...

Agree, disagree? What do you guys think?

I say Begin is a big part of the team but I say that the little finnish smurf named Koivu i sthe heart and soul..as he goes, the team goes. He leads by example as does Begin and that is what you need in a leader. I thought a well played road game...play it safe for 2 periods then open it up down the stretch. As far as the earlier post about Theo's "dumb penalty" I think it was a pretty honest mistake. Easy for us to criticize a guy who made a deccision in the heat of battle. He played the puck like he has done for 26 years and it was a reflex/reaction type of thing. Mistakes happen..and yes..I STILL THINK THOSE STUPID LINES BEHIND THE NET WHERE A GOALIE CAN PLAY THE PUCK ARE JUST PLAIN DUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMBBBBBBBBBBBB!!! ARE WE PLAYING HOCKEY OR LACROSS HERE!?!? I can live with all the other rule changes but please someone tell me the sense of having those 2 stupid lines there to play the puck? None. Zero. It does absolutely NOTHING to add to the game and allow more scoring..

Demers is spot-on in saying the Steve Begin is the heart of the team!

And lets not make that an Anti-Saku statement!!!

Hard to believe that he ever went to waivers!

...and I'm starting to see his style and mannerisms rubbing off on guys like Higgins!  And clearly guys like Sunny and Bulis look up to him!

That was a real eye opener.....for those who want to see it!!!
