It's not just because it benefits teams like the Habs, but I LOVE the new NHL. Skill is taking over from brawn, and as a result you get games like tonight's. The Habs didn't have to fight through boring trap-style defences, and the Flyers were forced to use their skilled players a lot more to keep up with the speedier Canadiens.
Ribeiro finally showed us something, scoring the tying and winning goals, and Koivu was again the leader out there. There's been some talk about the Habs being impatient with Theodore's play as of late. Folks, please don't forget that Patrick Roy was stoned in his last game as a Hab, and shortly after was sent to Colorado. We all know how THAT ended up! Jose has just hit a bump in the road. Patience, please!
Finally, another plea to use the chat room. After a great game like tonight's against Philly, I can't believe there are no Hab fans who want to talk about it! C'mon Habs fans, let's trade some thoughts about our beloved Bleu-Blanc et Rouge!
Agreed about the new look NHL. Some of us were saying that it's nice to be able to park in front of the tube with a few pops and actually enjoy watching a game again. And it doesn't have to be a game the Habs are part of. The Pens and Panthers were on OLN last night, and although the picture quality is iffy and the studio show looks like Wayne's World, the game itself was entertaining. Back 'n forth. A ton less clutching, grabbing and hooking. And when some pinhead does try to revert, the refs call it.
I'd much rather watch this version of the NHL than that plodding boring crap they were force feeding us before the lockout.
