When Zed & Sunny return…
Permalink Closed

I think that adding Zed to the 2nd line is an absolute must, especially since Perezhogin does not look out of place at all skating with Kovy & Koivu!  The problem with this is that Zed might think that a veteran losing a slot due to injury is a tad disrespectful.  I think the question then becomes…would Zed sulk or take this as a challenge to kick-start and elevate the play of the 2nd line?  I trust that CJ could exhibit the diplomacy necessary to present this situation as a positive challenge!  Above all though, Zed’s return should start the clock ticking on determining Ribeiro’s long-term status as a Hab because he clearly needs to start contributing.

As for Sunny, my sense here is that the Habs depth places Sunny in a position of having to constantly compete for his slot on the roster!  Perhaps this inner competition alone has contributed more to the Hab’s success than all other factors combined (thank-you Savvy and thank-you Bob for growing the depth of this organization)?!  Anyway, it seems obvious that he bumps back into his usual place on the 3rd or 4th line as a checker (with some credible offensive capabilities)…although I think that dressing 7 defensemen presents some interesting options for CJ.
