So far he has been the player we hoped he would be. At the time of his signing BG stated we wanted to sign the playoff Kovalev and not the other one. This guy seems reborn so far. He is showing leadership, grit and yes toughness. I even see this guy backchecking....yes backchecking. I know it's early in the year and still a lot of hockey to play but there was a lot of nay-sayers out there who said we signed a floater and made a huge mistake(not many here but on other boards) I guess for now they are chowing down on a little crow. What are your thoughts?
He is the player BG hoped for. The guy who could bring the fans out of their seats and lead the team in points. It is also an asset to have him for Markov and Perez because I am sure they look up to him for advise.
The only thing I am worried about is that his contract is for 4 years. Will years 2-4 be as impressive as he has been so far? Can he be consistent over the long haul? If so then we have a gem.
Talking to CJ earlier this week for a minute. He tells me that Kovy is like a kid this year. He loves playing in Montreal and he and CJ have an excellant relationship. Did you see them laughing after Kovalev blasted that goal last night. CJ was telling him that with a rocket like that he needs to use it more..I agree. He is really enjoying the city and the atmosphere and tells the guys he is reborn. This guy is a world class player. He gives me goosebumps sometimes he is that talented. I can tell you that there was not one team in the league who did not try to sign him before we did. And that there is not one GM now who would not take him in a heartbeat. I love this guy. (thats right guys..I am secure in my manhood. I can tell you that I love you and not feel intimidated..I love all you guys..even And-o)

i can't remember the last time we had a player that touched the puck and made you pay attention imediately. he creates so much space out there and with koivu and perez, they have to be considered one of the best frist lines in hockey.
