There are rumors (hockeytraderumors website) that a deal has been reached (for announcement after Saturday’s game) between the Isles and the Habs that will bring Niinimaa to Montreal.


 


Names being mentioned as being NY bound are….Rivet…or (gulp) Souray (Why on Earth would BG do that)!


 


Too bad Bob couldn’t chisel out both Niinimaa and Jason Blake for Rivet, Dagenais & Hainsey!!!

I think you misinterpretted the article.  The way I understood it, the Canadiens are look for some offensive minded defencemen.  Since they report that Souray has been struggling and would benefit if another defencemen was brought in.  It was reported that the Habs are looking to dump Rivet for his high contract.

I think that kittie's is Figaro from a Disney movie.  As for Rivet and Souray, I like them both, but Rivet is over-paid and Souray struggles with this kind of game and maybe needs to be with a different defence partner that we don't have that could cover the weaknesses in his game.  I like Niinimaa, but if we trade for him by using a right-shooting D, we will only be weakening an already weak area.  We only have 4 right-handers on the team.

Figaro is Gepeto and Pinocchio's pet cat.  I was labeled as an Intalian Restraunt Owne and I wanted to let the truth be know - I wish I had that kind of cash, all I can afford is a kitty named Figaro.

What is it with Souray this year any way. His shot is not there either in speed or accuracy. He sometimes appears to be disinterested in the game.

Maybe Souray misses the European game!


You know who really needs to make a trade and might be desparate to?  Atlanta!  They've conceded like 22-23 goals in 4 last game while scoring 2 or 3.  They need a shake up fast and might be ripe for the pickins!!

i think janne niinimaa is good d-man and would look good in a habs uniform but not if we have to give up rivet in return. he is one of are top 2 d-man.if we trade rivet we will lose a leader on defence and will be weaker on defence.i hope bg is smart enough not to trade rivet.i would like see them trade dags/hansey/etc.....but if there asking for rivet i say NO DEAL.

I would like to see Niinimaa in Habs uniform NEVER!!!!! He is grown man who is worst cry baby ever in Finnish ice hockey history. He left the World Cup team in 2004, cause coach "was mean" to him, and "yelled too loud" to him. That`s why the best coach in a long time had to resign after the World Cup.
