No; his first year in the league was 2000-01.  He hadn't played many games yet, however; he might technically have been classified a rookie, since he had not appeared in 25 games a season yet.  I know the rule is 25 games to no longer be a rookie, but for a goalie sitting on the bench, I'm not sure if that counts as a game or not.
