Just got back from the Bell Centre

Just got back.  Where do I begin.  let's see.   pre-game ceremonies were weak.  In fact, part  of the pre-game ceremonies had to be called off when the white sheets suspended from the rafters fell to the ice and the projcted images could not be deployed.

The game itself.  I love the open ice.  Long passes, no need to worry about 2 line passes any more.  really opens things up.

I was surprised that there was quite of bit of clutching and grabbing, more so this week than last week and than pre-season.  maybe it was an off night.

Lots of players on the habs did not show up so to speak.  Namely Kovalev and Ribeiro.  I'll post some shots on my blog later on tonight.

If I may....many on here are bashing Theo and I can tell you I am the first guy to call this guy to the mat when need be. But take it from me. He did not lose the game for us last night. In fact, I am here to say that had he not made a few spectacular saves the score would have been 8-2. Yes he let some rebounds go but Souray appears to be spending the season thinking about his former Babewatch wife (can't say as I blame him). I want to make these points:

  1. Ribiero- has got to go. Perhaps time in the press box will wake him up. I dare say he did not win a draw all night, was non-existent defensively and to me seems disinterested.  And for a supposed "sniper" (by the way the only time I see a true effort from this guy is when he gets close to the net), the guy has had more shots than any other players this year but cannot put the puck in the ocean off the end of the wharf. If I were CJ Ribs would be eating hot dogs tonite in Atlanta

  2. Souray- brutal. Brutal, and BRUTAL. Did I say Brutal? Some on here have bashed Rivet. I suggest you turn your effort to Souray who is disinterested and has given more away then the Salvation Army Food Bank at Christmas. Rivet has been solid. I like hoe Rivet is always the first one into a scrum when someone is picking on our little guys. I like his leadership.  Souray has been err...

  3. Ivanis- although Chara got a shot in and cut him (then a cheap shot with the linesemen in between...fighters do not do that but it will come back to haunt him) I like the fact that at least we now HAVE someone that can stand up there against a guy like Chara. He is definately a presence and from what I have seen, is a step up talent wise from Langdon.

  4. Begin- you always know what you are gettiong from this guy. Consistent effort.

  5. Rookies- early but Perez, Pleks and Higgins have been solid and can only get better. I say keep playing them

  6. Overall, it is one loss to the best team in the league. Guys cmon. We are very biased on this board and we love our team. But we are NOT in the same class as Ottawa. We do not have the depth, experience or talent yet. Having said that, the Habs moved the puck very well and if Ottawa was not as speedy a team as they were, we could have had a different outcome. I predict that teh Sens will be the class of the league this year. Bar none. No contest. And for 2 periods we played toe to toe with 'em. Let's not dive off the bandwagon.

Great points barry33. Although I am not so sure about our so called " elite" Goaltending. He seems average to me.
