watched the game last night. After the habs got down by a goal in the third, who brought them back? That's right, Koivu. Just almost by himself made the leaf defense look stupid then Begin got the rebound. I am suprised no one, in previous posts, mentioned that pivital point of last nights game. Without Koivu we could chalk up the first loss I say. Ribero got the game winner( Keith Richards could have potted that one). Anyhow good for him. He was invisible most of the game( although that line is better without Dags). I thought Ryder was flying out there. He looks even better this year compared to last.
Theo looked a little shaky on a couple of goals but was still solid. Perez has earned a spot now for sure. Something about the defensive zone coverage still freaks me out. I don't know what it is but the habs tend to run around a bit too much. Is it a size thing with our d-men?
I feel less encouraged with our defense. I would love to see atleast one more big D man. Im not sure where he would come from, but I would feel much better. Our guys seem to do alot of running around. It scares me a bit
Just wondering if we need size back there or if speed is more important this season? I note that if a big d-man can't get to the forward in time, he is more apt to take a penalty.
We need the best of both worlds, size with speed like a Redden type player.
thank the lord i'm not the only one who knows great hockey when I see it JohnM! I have been watching/studying hockey for years and know what type of player it takes to win. Its not just point production. Begin is a great example of that. I really only sense 2 maybe 3 people who post on this site that have their head in the sand on the Koivu issue. Anyhow, those who know...just know. Good enough for me.
In any case GO HABS! Ottawa will be a challange I imagine.

Do you think that Bob Gainey may try to pry Boynton from Boston? If so, at what cost?

It would cost at least 2 million and 2 first round draft picks... at least. I don't see Boston not matching either, but he is exactly what this team needs.
