Guys and gals,

This Habs edition is reminding me very much of the bunch of guys we had on our 1985-86 team when Patrick Roy was our rookie goaltender. Rookie forwards like Brian Skrudland and Claude Lemieux, Sergio Momesso and Stephane Richer propelled us into a cinderella Stanley cup winning season.  Hey....Hey..In no way am I predicting that we will win the cup....

All I'm saying is that the rookies we presently have like Perezhogin, Plekanec, Higgins are allowing us to forget about aging veterans such as Koivu and Kovalev.  As bad as some of you think that Dagenais is...he can score.  In fact every single forward on the Habs can score this year.

Ribeiro will eventually have his scoring streak as well...in due time.  Ryder will cool off at one point or another in the near future. No one can play at a high level for a long time.

If we were to have kept Latendresse, we would have had to get rid of someone like Perezhogin or Plekanec. Look at the damage that Marcel Hossa did to us last night.  This month, we play the NY Rangers three time folks!!!!  Hossa will continue to do damage to us throughout the season. Sending Hainsey to the NYR would have been wiser but no one wanted him.....

I believe that if Theodore has a good season, we will have the best team since the last time we won a cup in 1992-93.  Is that enough to win a cup.  Probably not, but a 4th place finish in the eastern conference is a very good possibility.  Montreal is the only team to have played 2 games so far.  With 2 wins, we are 1st overall.  Look at the standings at nhl or tsn website.

It feels good to the Canadiens up there...

Go Habs Go.

I said something along these lines a couple of months ago and got ridiculed. The make up of the team is similair. Lots of good solid rookies and solid vets. I don't care what anyone say's this team is constucted the same way as 1986. That is not to say it's cup time, because that 1986 team just came together very well and developed into a great team--time will tell.

Well, we have a possibility of finishing 5th in the standings this year if things go our way. Does anyone believe we can ride Huet's magic deep into the playoffs?

I do believe we can ride Huet for a round or two.  Also seing our 2 big gunners flying right now makes our chances look a lot better.  We can ride Huet, but Koviu and Kovalev need to be on thier respective games.  Kovalev is our game breaker, and if he gets hot like he did against the Bruins 2 years ago the sky could be the limit.  Our overall team defense is much better now, look at all the rebounds Huet gave up last night, and our D was there to gobble them up and clear the front of the net.  We do have a great chance to advance to the 2nd round, but it all depends on our best players.  Look at Barry's post about our best players having to be our best players.  Pretty much sums it up.
