Hello all, new here and just back from the game at MSG

A few thoughts

1. Although there was a quite a bit of fast-paced action, it seemed like an AHL pre-season game.. So sloppy from both sides. Ribs, Daigenais and Saku didn't show up. The first two should be sent packing. They are the embodiment of everything that has been wrong with the team for the past decade or so. Is Daigenais related to one of the team executives? Ribeiro should be callled Recliner, cuz' he's a cushy La-Z-Boy.

2. D was much better than I expected. I think it might be super-solid with time and a good trade(see above)

3. I'm usually a big Theodore supporter, but I was 20 feet away from him for 2 periods, and he should think twice about the confidence level of other "elite" goalies. He's got a long way to go before he's on of them.

4. Poor Jagr. He's going to have a long, miserable year. Any good he does is going to be dashed by Weekes (super shaky tonight) and the rest of the B-team from hell

5 After seeing two habs fans picked on and then ejected to cheers (from the whole crowd) of USA! USA!, and foul language directed toward them by many individuals (I heard the term Canadian F^&*ots more than once) I can only say that the Rangers fans deserve what they get this year.

6 Oh, Kasparitis should look into selling farm equipment door-to-door. He's destined to fail with the new rules

Wow that was a long first post, sorry I was a little blabbity, but my Northern pride had to vent after hearing all that nonsense from our pals down here

Welcome and keep blabing.  Great insight and 1st hand accounts.  I only get to catch part of it on the radio (730AM here) and you seemed to echo what the play-by-play guys were hinting at.  I'd like to say that we've got to give it 4-6 weeks of adjustment time before the new rules sink in.  That's why it might have seemed AHLish

Welcome and keep the insights coming!  It will take awhile to adjust, that is for sure, but it will be made a lot easier if we get that sorely needed high-end defenceman.

Hey Brooklynhabfan, I don't understand what you're saying about Theodore. He is an elite goalie and was solid last night. He showed great confidence and positioning, especially when he flashed that glove several times, and seldom gave up any rebounds because of his great positioning. Theodore is looking sharp early on I think. I don't see what you could see against him, besides the handling of the puck outside the net.

I guess it's having seen him look like a wall of confidence in the past, and this didn't match up. I'm not comparing him with an average goalie's confidence, I'm judging him against what I know he can be. And some of the stuff he's let in so far didn't have to go in. I watched the replay of the skate-deflected goal last night over and over, and I swear I could see him relax a little before the deflection rather than play the possibility. Maybe it's just my ever-aging brain wanting him to be Marty Brodeur, who has a knack for getting flukes like that one. (plus just a little shmear of consistency)

But just to add to that, I don't think it's fair of me (or anyone else) to really read too much into any single performance during the first few weeks. A lot has changed for these guys. It's like running a crane for twenty years and then having all the controls moved 3 inches one day. A little getting used to. So I'll backtrack halfway on my Theodore rag. OK, maybe three quarters.

I still think that the first win was Lady Luck, and the second was against an almost semi-pro team. There's going to have to be more than speed to win against the likes of the Sens and to avoid golf vacations in April. (Are you listening Saku? Saku? wake up!) A lot of the old problems are right there, plain as day, for all to see.

I also still think the only thing Kasparitis should be doing on Broadway is appearing as Gollum in "Lord of the Rings, the Musical"
