Comments on Habs-Rangers Game

I didn't see the whole game, but I saw parts of the first and the third period and I would have paid to see this game.  Habs had a lot more tempo and puck possession and carried the puck into the offensive zone.  What impressed me the most was the defense, even though they scored three goals I thought the Habs defense  played great. The Habs defense made a few mistake (Rivet on the Rangers 3rd) and the Rangers capitalized, J. Jagr seemed to be flying out there, he looks like he'll have a great season.  I really liked the play of the rookies Plekanec and Higgins (him especially).  I thought the habs got away with a couple of penalties that could have been called against them.  Maybe it just me, I'm just not sure of what's a penalty any more.

There is one player on the habs that I just don't get that is Pierre Daigenais, he got a penalty in the first and seems to always be in the box.  He's a big guy but doesn't play physical, doesn't seem to do much back checking and doesn't seem to have much tempo to his game.  He is one-demionsional.  I would prefer to see his spot open to a Higgins, Plekanec or Perizoghin.

Also Saku was not noticable this game.

I am as pleased as anyone that we are 2-0 but I'm not impressed with our PP.   We need a deman that can get a shot on net to cause rebounds, deflections, shots on goal.......we had two 5-3's tonight and I don't think we made Weekes make a save on either of them.  The OT winner was another example of just getting the puck on net.  Souray and Markov need to start shooting from the point on the PP or else put Kovy back there.  In addition, I'm still not impressed with the new rules........it's like watching rec hockey.  Sure there's no more cluthing and grabbing but now no one wants to touch anyone because they'll be off to penalty box and hurt their team.  The intensity resembles a 10:30PM rec game in small town Canada........when is this over to drink some beers in the dressing room.

i think the habs played great theodore looked awsome it was not theo we would have lost the game and ryder play great tonight i think hes going to be a 30 goal score it not even 50 goal score and perezhogin look awsome what speed he has he look great on the breakaway goal and higgins look good it was good to see him get his first nhl goal and he a great two way player and the defence play good in second and third period but they sure look tired and lazy in the first period it took souray long enough to get his under him tonight and dandenault took a bad penalty in the third period that cost us a goal that forced the game in to overtime and markov/komoisarekwere are best d-man tonight and whats awsome is the habs are going to get even better one game at a time.
