Outshot…so what?: In their 10 games thus far, the Canadiens have been outshot on seven occasions. This hasn’t hindered the Canadiens’ success where it counts the most: on the scoreboard. In those games, Montreal is undefeated in regulation with four wins and three shootout losses.

The posters almosts sounds proud of the fact or makes it appear that we should almost purposely be outshot every game to find success. What it shows me is that we seldom play a full 6o minutes of hockey and that we have been very luck so far to dodge the bullet and get some wins.

Because this was written by an employee of the Montreal Canadiens (Heather Engel). It is not a good thing to be outshot 7 out of 10 games. I find it unfathomable that it could be deemed somewhat okay to be out shot (51-22 in one game remember) 7 out of 10 games. That would be one heckuva bad plan going forward to let the opposition shoot at will.

What's with all the negativity? I take this "article" as more a comment on what we are doing well than to say that it's okay to play lousy if you win. If we are being outshot 70% of tiem time and have a good w/l record, then maybe we are no allowing quality shots or maybe our goalies are doing well.
I swear it seems we look for problems behind every tree.

Figs- I dont think it is negative it is just fact. We cannot continue to be outshot game in and game out by the opposition as it is similar to playing a game of Russian Roulette. Sooner or later you get shot.

What a great line name - Russian Roulette! I love it.
I agree 100%. Can't assume that the back end will bail you out night after night. What happens next is that your front end gets fat and lazy then the back end has to do even more. Not a way to go on if you want to lift a cup in June. Simply, i was saying that at least we have some strength to build on. The key is to repeat what you do well but, alone, that is not enough. Find the weakness and close the gap.

Oh for sure Figs..I mean it is the glass is half full/half empty scenario. The half empty approach says that we cannot continue getting outshot and outplayed and win hockey games..the half full approach says that in spite of this, we have managed a decent record..just think if we can start outshooting the opposition?!

although the being outshot more games than not scares me, what scares me even more is that our regulation losses WE outshot THEM! 7 out of 10 games no regulation losses by being outshot but we are 1-2-0 otherwise?

IT will be interesting to see how many shots are fired at HUET tonight playing ottawa,as opposed to playing THE LAFFS ,which ottawa is deffenetly the better team

I'm 1/2 full the kind. Unfortunatly, sometimes I'm half full of #@%*. Seriously, though, I always try to find a positive. Even when we suck terribly, I want to believe that there is something positive to draw from. I hope that is what this article meant...and I hope we see more of that on board too.
im not to worried at that stat , if its like saturdays game then yes im worried , but i dont think they were all like that , if it 3-5-7 i dont mind because its probably because of the amount of pp we give other teams . its not a stat im realy worried about .

Outshot again by the Sens but we outplayed and outscored them. So, in the end does it matter? I like the scoring chances stat. Anyone know how were are there?
