My perfect record at the bell Centre
Permalink Closed

On Sunday night this week, the company I work for, Rolls Royce Canada, played Canadiens' English radio rights holder CJAD (and its sister stations Mix96 and CHOM) to a re-match, but this time at the Bell centre.  We won the previous game last March.

Anyway in the re-match, the game was at 10pm.  Hey we can't be choosers.  We were picked to play, because, Rolls-Royce Canada over the past 10 years, have raised over $25,000 in the Mix 96 Kids funds to help children at the various children's hospitals in Montreal.

I am head coach of the RR team.  And we won 7-6.  It was a nail-biter.  Shots of goal were 59-16 in our favour!!! The first star of the game was Canadiens play-by-play announcer Rick Moffat who made over 40 saves (he dshared duties with a co-worker).   Yes they announce the three stars, there's music, and jumbo screen footage, the works I tell you!!!

Anyway Rolls Royce were designated the home team.  That being said I was behind the bench of the Montreal Canadiens.  Exact same spot where Guy Carbonneau paces.  Unbelievavle.  What an experience.  To hear my name announced on the Bell centre's PA System.  And i walked on the Bell Centre ice.  And nearly wiped out too, but i digress.

We were assigned the official visitors dressing room too.  (Canadiens dressing room was off-limits).

I'll post some pictures on Tuesday.

Great stuff, Mario! Rick Moffat's a goalie...well, I guess that explains the fondness in his voice when he talks about "red metal friends".
