Lats in front???
Permalink Closed

We can all agree this kid is using his size when he is out there right, so....why not put him in front of the net for our powerplay, then the opposition will be worrying about moving him and that will leave more time for our shooters on the sides, like Ryder and kovalev....cause most teams concentrate on Souray on the line, so they play deep, and when you get a kid like Lats in front with some sharp shooters on the side, sounds like a killer powerplay....plus it will give him a chance to knock a few rebounds in and gain some confidence....for his 5 on 5 ice time.

I like this idea, but at the same time I think our powerplay is going very well, so unless there is an injury or it needs a jumpstart, it is very difficult to take someone off of it in favour of Lats.

He would be well suited for that job though. I wonder if they have tried it out in practice.

I wonder if we should go with 4 forwards on our PP, as we have a lot more skill upfront than we do on the back-end. If we used 4 forwards then I agree Lats should be in there.

I was watching an old playoff game on NHL network.  The first powerplay unit the Habs sent out was Shutt-Mondou-Tremblay with Robinson and Lafleur on the point.  I have always liked that approach.  But, would you do that today with the first unit and put Markov out to quarterback the second unit, or do you leave Markov with Souray on the first and use four forwards on the second unit?

Whats wrong with the powerplay now to try to do such a shake up. I think the habs are still in the top 5 of the powerplay. Lats has not deserved any powerplay time.

I agree with all posts Lats is a great offensive minded player who can be use anywhere when needed.  PP is fine though and like Andy said does he deserve it...but he does put out 110%
