Pathetic first period against the Leafs.

Koivu - idiot play retaliating against Peca (didn't koivu learn anyhting from Kovalev)

Rivet - not heart ... his weak play cost us goal #3

Carbo -- idiot decision to start Abby ahead of a hot Huet

Begin - he's minus 5 now I think

I'm still in awe of how bad Rivet looked on that 3rd goal. It's like his brain said "ok, hit coming" so he just forgot about the puck.

If the first period was pathetic, what would describe the second as?

Awful game by the Canadiens.  Fortunate to get a point out of that schmoz!

Worst part is that the Leafs 'D' is just plain Junior'ish...at best!

No excuses though...T.O. outhustled the Habs alllllllll night!

Again ando I agree with you all the way,  first off we were lucky to get a point.!  Secondly, all this talk of trading Souray, I'm sorry, but the first guy to go is Rivet.  Man hes is slow and the third goal lets not got there.  At least Souray has offensive skills.  Can't wait for Dandy and Frankie to come back.  If the Habs are one of the quickest teams in the league the Leafs must be the quickest.  good too see Perez get promoted, feel sorry for Pleks, but maybe its better for the team and the players.  I believe Murray has worn his welcome out, hopefully Downey can play soon, or bring up someone from the "steel city", make it two because Lats has no business in the NHL at this moment, if the Pens are going to send Staal down and the Preds just brought back Radulov, his time is not right now.

Sorry, i said this on another thread, but it belonged here, so i will repeat it anyway:

A guy who works as hard as Murray should never have his welcome expire. You have too short a memory even for a sports fan. Murray might not be at his best, but I still bow down to him.

I may have said this before, but I will never stop respecting players who throw their bodies, careers, and health on the line just to win the puck back for their team.

Also, Rivet has been very good and very consistent for years, so let's not pretend he should be traded after one horrific game. Dandenault is not a good defenseman and hardly belongs in this league, so if you think he is better than Rivet just because he is fast, you need to wake up.

I do not want to trash Dandy, since he is hard working and has a brilliant attitudem but he just is not that skilled.

I want him as part of the organisation, but we have to be honest, the guy is a sevent or eitgth defenseman, unless you have as good a system as Buffalo where you can turn his speed and his first pass into brilliant plays.

first off I think Murray is one hell of worker, but his penalty tonight was bad and if Downey was healthy I'd rather see him there.  I will never question Murray's work ethic but its not happening this year.  We have alot of guys like that, but I think there are guys who deserve a chance ( Maxim or Ferland), and lets face it, if Downey didn't get hurt, Garth would be sitting on the bench.  If Aaron was playing against Boston, guys wouldn't of taken a run at Kovy.  Brookbank looked like a first line player out there, cause know one hit him, or stepped up to him.

Absolutely right! Even when he doesn`t play that well, he is still first one to defend team mates. He blocks shots, kills penalties, sometimes even scores. Even kingKom made mistakes, should we trade him too?

I like Rivet, as well, but we have a problem of skill on the right-side in particular. At some point we need to upgrade our D's skill level and we will have to make tough decisions, as we have too many of a similar type. We have 4 free-agents on D this year and maybe a prospect coming up next year, so if we are to make a change, this should be the year.

So who in our top-six goes?

He has done absolutely nothing to impress me or no-one on that matter(but you). He has fought what 2 times (Roy and Neil) both draws and 1 shadow fight(Norton). So Brookbank would have acted same way with or without Downey. He might be good locker room player but that is all what he is.

Been a long time since I posted, but I read regularly...

1 - Why the heck was Abby in nets? What message are we sending to Huet? Abby should be the back-up. Period. I don't want to see a repeat of the "go with the hot hand" crap we had to put up with during the Theodore-Thibault-Hackett days (though I loved Hackett...).

2 - I think Kovalev has a sleep-walking problem, cuz he didnt even look awake during the shootout.

3 - Samsonov... 'nuff said.

I agree with you about Murray, Rivet, etc...
But man, what a bad game by Rivet, and Murray looks off so far this year.

Rivet's one of my favourite players, and I have confidence he'll get it back.

Lucky to get a point???  I almost feel bad taking the point! I doubt very much that Carbo took them into the dressing room and said "it's okay fellas, at least we got a point".

Terrible, terrible, terrible.  But hey, I'm liking Kovy at centre and Sammy's found his legs...
