4 points in 8 games....

I don't know what they want from Samsonov - he has 4 points in 8 games.  Yes his comments were said in the heat of the moment - I think its a mistake on Carbo to put him on the fourth line.  Why not bring Lantredress with Sammy and Kovy.  I agree with Sammy on this one - you don't pay him 3.5 mil to play 10mins a game.  Bold move by Carbo and I think it will backfire - I hope it doesn't.  Right now Sammy needs time to reflect on his comments and come out on Thursday and play his heart out.  He has to handle the montreal media better.

I just think is a little slap in the face for Sammy coming back to Boston.  Its obvious he wanted to play well coming back to boston and stick it to them.  Carbo gave Abby the shot against the Avs - he should have given the same chance to Sammy.

If you are looking why players don't want to come to montreal or stay - this is an example of it.

If a player respects the coach...it isn't a concern about back firing. Carb felt he had to mix the lines up. It could of been any player demoted to the fourth line. The important thing is how that player responds. Sure Sammy has 4 points but he was still part of the problem of a minus line that was also under-producing.

You could look at the salery thing both ways..should he play more because he makes 3.5 mil or should he play better because he make 3.5mil per season?

This move should benefit both Russians. They both should have more room to dangle. They couldn't be happy playing together if they don't compliment each other.

I don't totally agree with the overall point. Switching lines does seem like a good move, and Carbonneau clearly wants to turn this into a TEAM team, where what line you play on doesn't determine your rank in the team hierarchy or something like that. He wants to make this team more like Buffalo.

But maybe it was one game premature. Samsonov vs. Boston is a game where Sergei might have found the juice to take his game up to another level.

Flowerpower...why did you start a new thread on this? Not that it makes a difference because I still responded...just curious.

Now I'm not finger pointing but it seems like our board is getting cluttered with new threads but same topics. Yes, I'm probably guilty of it also but not when there is a relevant thread two down from this one.

Plouf, no way should it matter which team we're playing. It should never be about one player but about what's best for the team. Too bad for Mr. Sulk that it's against his old team. If he does have pride, he'll really have something to prove and he'll do it from the fourth line.

Well that's sort of my point AB. I'm saying that it would be for the good of the team if Samsonov suddenly exploded...I'm not saying it's right or a good sign that he needs to play Boston to have a big game, but whatever it takes to win.....so I was just saying I wish Carbs had waited one more game before dropping that bomb. Otherwise I'd say demoting Sammy is an easy call right now.
