Hey Carb, it's worth a try against Boston. Time to break up the second line like you mentioned. Anyone else agree? The bigger question is how does he go about it without disrupting the chemistry between line one and line three?

And-o is torn on this one!

On one hand, YES - there are many, many, many enticing combinations of players that might click better.

On the other hand, Samy has ALWAYS been a streaky producer and slow starter...Kovy's attitude and mood change with the weather...and Pleks is still finding his way! Some nights...they look like World beaters...others, like fill-ins from a cheap and low budget 'B' movie!

If And-o HAD TO make a change...he'd switch Higgins (YES HIGGINS) with Samsonov!!! Higgins energy would undoubtedly infect Pleks, which might somehow interest Prince Alexei.....and Koivu and Ryder might be able to light a fire underneath Samsonov!

If THAT failed...And-o would wonder aloud if Sergei and Alexei had ever been to Hamilton (losing either/both on waivers would only free up cap room for And-o's centre)!

 Interesting idea And-o!

A little sad though that we have to lean on a second year player to get Kovy working harder. This could also back fire if Kovy thinks his twin got promoted to first line who is playing worse than himself.

It's still worth a gamble. Carb has to find the right chemistry over four lines for Habs to take the next step.

Thus, making the cycle of life complete!  LOL!

...seriously though Mulsey...the MAIN part of And-o's suggestion (in case you missed it) was not about flipping one guy for another (which may or may not work)...it was potentially waiving chronic/repeat underachiever's!!!

Riddle And-o this...who would/could afford to take Prince Alexei???  Think about that!

Lets not panic, it's early and last night's game was against a great opponent. On any other night, when Huet is on his game, the final score in my mind would have been 2-1. Had Souray's shot gone in off the crossbar, its a different game. We didn't play well, but I have faith in Carbo and his team to get this team firing on all cylinders.

I have wondered for a while how a Pleks/Higgins combo would work. I think separating the Princes is a must... they are just too similar. And if we are to get Lecavalier or other big price centre, we will probably have to include Kovalev along with a prospect or two.

I am curious how anyone on this board can take Ando seriously?  He has no hockey knowledge and I often wonder if he has ever seen a game in his entire life.  If the guy wasn't comic relief you would all agree with what I am saying here,  just think back to the time he suggested playing Steve Begin on the Kovalev line.  Take your head out of the sand and watch a game.

I love what Pleks brings to the team but will BG be looking for a centreman for that line?  And how long is he willing to wait?

This is probably the practical thing to try rather than major shuffling. Laparierre has been sent back.

I say change it up. Even with the first line if you have to. Who knows, you may end up with 3 solid lines rather than one. If it doesn't work, change it back, and try something else. Someone is going to click with Sam and Kovy at some point. But if you don't try, you'll never know.

I like the idea purely because there would be fit with those lines, but I would rather instead DEMOTE Samsonov and put Lats up on that line, even if he had to play his off wing. That way you don't promote and reward bad play, you send a message without losing to waivers, and you leave the two good lines intact.

In the end though, there are about 5 or 6 viable suggestions for line trials that I have seen on this site without including the ones about callups, so I leave it up to Carbs which to try, but one needs to be tried.

I don't include the one about Begin being moved to the second line as a viable suggestion though.

Thats a typo Skippy. it is AT!!!!!!  Any one who refers to themselves in the third person will never be taken seriously.  And as for laughing at me, I think I showed the go habbers who had the guts to show up that I know a thing or two about the game.  You have yet to show me a thing.  One thing for sure though, you know how to get under peoples skin.  You are the Darcy Tucker of this board.  And the reason we laugh at is because the image you portray of yourself is pretty sad.  I guess instead of ragging on you, I should show pitty on you.  It is easy for you to take a shot at me on here, but if we were face to face, you would be calling me sir.  That is one thing I know.

Too funny!  In case you hadn't noticed though, YOU were/are the one taking the TOTALLY UNPROVOKED (and long distance) shots at And-o!  Hmmmmmm.

So before grouping And-o with Tucker, take a look at the mirror Ripper!

...and believe And-o when he says that distance has absolutely no impact WHATSOEVER on his disposition!!!  You rudely and tartly slam And-o...And-o returns it (simple as that)!!!  In fact, this conversation would take place whether you were ten miles or ten feet from And-o!

Now stop your foolish anti-And-o vibes.  And-o DIGS all takes and positions on all things Hab.

If And-o slammed 'your guy'...argue...bitch...chew...scrap....but And-o gets bullied by NOBODY...NOBODY (and that ain't posturing...threatening...trash talking...etc...)!!!

It is not the fact that you take shots at anyone, it is the fact that your shots are unmerrited.  Calling the penalties on Monday lazy is completely absurd.  If it had have been Koviu who had hit the guy from behind, no penalty would have been called.  Kovalev is 220 lbs, similar in size to me, the guy turned, and Kovalev pulled back.  Simple phyiscs should tell you about the outcome of that.  The other penalty was a slash on the stick, and again being similar in size I know what he is going through with that.

All the comments of lazyness remind me very much of my former AAA coaches, who would say he may have scored 70 goals, but he is lazy.  I will tell you, every scout from every junior team who was after me, and every scout from every univeristy who was at my house said the same things true analyists say about Kovalev.  He plays effortlessly.  The problem with you guys is that if he doesnt go end to end every game he is lazy.  It rattles my chain to hear the same things said about him that were said about me.  So I take words like that very personal.

It seems to be the same things you post time after time, and if no one replys to your rants about lazyness, or lack of an energy guy, you start a new thread.  So I do believe you are a terrible instigator, and get your kicks from doing so.  After reading the exact same thing 500 times I got tired of hearing it.  The only thing that changes is the name.   Wonk wonk wonk Koviu, wonk wonk wonk Kovalev, wonk wonk wonk Downey.  You are starting to sound like Charlie Brown's teacher.  I guess its true, its all the same, only the names have changed right?

Wow, for once it's not Muller93 and JohnM sticking up for Koivu against And-o. There is a new threat to Andoism. Good luck Rip!

Well that is truly some interesting insight Rip!

Perhaps questioning Kovalev’s effort, energy and intent is somewhat unfair, although And-o stands behind all criticism regarding Alexei’s timing (why do these penalties always happen to him at key times?)!

Also, And-o can certainly appreciate how the bigger and more gifted players might sometimes appear to be drifting/floating around simply because their game is ‘effortless’ by nature (eg. Super Mario could look disinterested at times…Rick Nash as well).

However, how on Earth could sooooo many media personnel, former players, former teammates and ‘hockey people’ in general all have the EXACT SAME ASSESSMENT of Alexei (as in, he is a pampered/selfish/spoiled waste of natural talent)?  No way is EVERYONE wrong!  Alexei Kovalev has shown himself to be a cancer to the team many, many times in his career!

It bugs And-o how someone soooo obviously talented (he might be one of the top five players in the World) can tally such average numbers!!!  No way was Gretz as naturally ‘gifted’ as Alexei…or Messier…or Bossy…or Trots…etc…etc…etc…yet, who would you rather take into game 7!  So, the slamming of Kovy is well earned!!!

Oh and Ripple, one more point, if you have a serious distaste for And-o’s postings and/or if you feel strongly enough that And-o adds nothing of value to GOHABS…why not simply avoid reading his posts?

Thanks goodness for your long windedness Ando.  I noticed the extreme length of your post, and decided to start from the bottom up.  Best piece of advice I have ever gotten.  Saved 8 seconds of my life I would never have back if I had read the 4 paragraphs of Wonk Wonk Wonk.  So rwp2le thinks that some people may be smarter than they appear, beacause from this day forward, rwp2le will never again say to MC, "honey I feel myself getting dumber just reading this hogwash".

Yowser, so much hostilities, save it for the LEAFS!!

We must not waste this energy on this bickering! There is a force that we need to make sure is destroyed! The Leafs are in town, WE HAVE TO DESTROY THEM! As my close personal friend Mr. Ultimate Warrior once said, Always believe! Lets go here boys! Now lets stop playing internet enforcer ok? Unless youre Link Gaetz or Mario Roberge then you cant say much.

I say we have to just wait for that 2nd line to click, all of the other lines are working so why break a good thing? They will eventually click. Koivu is a great leader and this team has grit for the first time in a while. They Boyband (Théo, Riberio and Dagenais) is gone and the good results are coming in! So lets not go crazy here, just remember the Habs of last season at this time! Pleks will get it going he just has to get used to this new role.

But if i hear one more praise of how Ribeiro would be doing better than anything i will puke! Anyone who can remotely support that douche clearly has never played a sport in their life! He was the worst excuse of a Habs player of all time. This whole garbage of he'd be a better passer or whatever the hell the FOOLISH argument is, is simply hideous. Id take a guy who has more grit and will eventually get the 2nd line centre down pat, over a 170pound soaking wet Backstreet Boy backup dancer who does the worm on the ice everytime he gets hit!

GO HABS GO

i dont mean to intrude in this fiasco but, Ando, who is your favorite Canadiens player?

no sarcasm intended or foul play intentions, i just want to know ...:)

Also , we dont need a center....we need defenseman who can play the puck instead of just taking it away and thats it.

I'd be willing to bet that if/when Higgins slacks off and gets lazy, Ando will be the first to post and tell it like it is.

Good choices Ando

Been there, bought the t-shirt!  :)  Higgy's my guy's fav too, he yelled himself silly at the phone booth calling him out!  In fact, bought the t-shirt for the other half, but wore it to work today...gotta love the fire Chris brings.

Ando, Rip may seem harmless, but I tell ya, I'd walk the streets of Montreal in the dead of night any day with him and Ray.  Tread vewwy, vewwy carefully!
