Last year when HUET took over for THE-odour he played every game,he stays focused, sharp, and knows he doesn't have to prove anything and can relax. But if he is playing one game ,then 2 games ,one game ,sit out a game or 2 games, how is he suppose to get focused and build his confidence. He proved himself last year and got the team to the playoffs, now he needs to get as many games in back to back etc.,not 1 game in 2 out foolishness

Doodie -- I've got to believe that if the coaches were seeing a different Huet in practice than we've seen in games that he'd have gotten more of a chance to establish himself with more early season starts. But my fear is that he's not playing any better there than he has in games so far. In which case, why put all your eggs in a basket that has holes in it?

I agree that Huet is playing like a goalie who is low on confidence -- his meager attempt to stop the first goal last night from his knees (when it was a high, rising shot) shows that he's not comfortable yet. But the team needs to win, not cater to Huet, and if that means playing both goalies they should do it.

I'd love to see Huet return to his form of last year and be a true #1 goaltender. But until he does so in at least one game for all 60 minutes, he's not #1 in my mind.

The big problem must be that if Huet doesn't pick it up we have a $3 mill second goalie who will be hard to trade. At the moment we don't have the much talked about 1A,1B idea at all- Abby let in 5,Huet shipped 4.It's not too good if you ask me.

Oh I dont know Scotty...Bob "4 Leaf Clover" Gainey managed to unload a 5.6 million dollafr goalie last year..have faith! Kidding aside, it is early. A good game or 2 and Huet will be right back on track. I will be honest. Abby scares the hell out of me too.

I hope you're right. I'm a HUGE fan of Huet (as most on here know already) but even I can see that this season he went from bein' Christo-wall to Christo-fall. I think all he needs is one game that he stands on his head & he'll get his confidence back.

Abby scares the hell out of me too sometimes but I am slowly learnin' that this is just his way. He's doin' the job we need him to do & gettin' us points while doin' it. I'm glad we have Abby playin' strong while Huet tries to find his "A" game.... I can't see it takin' much longer.... he's a great goalie... he just needs to remember that.

My thoughts:

Is Huet as good as the goalie who led the NHL in save %, last year?  Probably not.

Is he as poor as he was last night?  Probably not.

He's somewhere in between, which still makes him an upper tier goalie in the NHL.

Although, the scouting report is definetly out on Huet...SHOOT HIGH (Drury's goal, and the waster ala Tommy Salo goal).  Rollie Melanson needs to work with Huet, and get him to stay on his feet a second longer before going into the butterfly.
