He was interviewed on RDS tonight and claims that he is not getting enough icetime. Says that they are taking to many penalties and so he sits on the bench for 6-7 minutes between shifts. NHL.com indicates he had 10 and 12 minutes respectively the last 2 games. Pleks and Kovy are running between 17 and 18 minutes each per game. Is Samsonov not seeing the ice as much as them?
Tonight, barring a final between the Habs and the Avalanche, may be the last time we see Joe Sakic on the Bell Centre Ice. He will probably retire within the next 2 years. Pierre Turgeon regrets not being able to play tonight due to injury. He also is retiring shortly.
with the new NHL there will be alot more minor calls and that means that most of a teams goal scorers will have to sit on the bench: samsonov , live with it or become a defense- minded forward which i don't think will happen!
It does tie into the fact that we are taking way too many penalties. There are bigger consequences than Samsonov's rythm, but I can certainly imagine it making it harder for him to get anything real going.
