I believe his increased foot speed has made him a lot better this year. Love his transformation and with his 2 goals tonight, it should give him a boost of confidence.
Faster looking and..... his head is totally in the game. I think he must have great hand-eye, because he has an amazing ability to react quickly defensively. And he used his body well too. Talk about your pleasant surprises.

I guess Gainey must be a genius after all...
In Bob we trust.

His patience in the free agent market seems to be paying off and making him look very savy. Just look at Boston, signing Chara and Savard and sitting at the bottom of the East; NYR signing Shanahan and in 6th in the East. The teams that have moved up are the ones that have kept their core intact without signing a bunch of free agents, Atlanta, Minnesota, Buffalo, San Jose.
Bonk was super tonight, but lets not forget hisa linemate Johnson, who plays both ends of the ice and seems to keep a level head when the pressure is on on the PK.
well good to see a thread giving Bonk his props!!! im counting him in at 4 solid games in a row. again his line shut their top line down 5 on 5 and some good PK which is tops in the league and now a little scoring touch this 3rd line is certainly set the tone early in the season that they are gonna come to play each night(great mix of speed, grit,D responsibility, forechecking and offence between those 3 guys seems what one guy lacks the other two have).Lets hope this play continues and becomes contagious!!!!
Bonk still has 'another gear' that he not yet brought!
...and he still commits the odd 'bonehead' sin...as in, foolish and half-hearted clearing attempts...selfish turnovers on offense without a good backcheck...and just plain awful face-off performances (And-o doesn't care so much if he wins the draw...but he needs to start jamming-up his man...who often gets a free-pass to the front of the net)!

I believe that what that means is that the teams that kept their core together have gelled faster. The more players you bring in (especially if they are impact players who log alot of ice time) the longer it takes for the team to gel. Look for teams like Boston and the Rangers to catch up. Cripes., we are only a few games in.

Very true, but it also is sometimes means that you get players who won't gel at all. Some of those teams will rebound (Shanahan is playing great, so I see the Rangers raising their game) but Boston made a lot of changes, rearranging every line and keeping a very young core otherwise. Moves like that may pay off, or they may be this year's Pittsburgh Penguins.
I was amongst those who criticized Bonk last season -- and Gainey for signing him. What we've seen from him so far this year -- and especially last night -- is Radek-ly different. If Bonk continues playing at this level, it gives the team a dimension that none of us thought we'd have this year. I gotta hand it to the guy, and to Gainey. Also, Johnson is heping elevate Bonk's game, while bringing something tangible to the team himself. We now have four lines that are all exciting to watch -- I don't cringe or go the fridge when any of them come on. And that's saying something...
