Details, svp! Who did he fight? One-punch knockout? Wild-swinging affair? Take-down or knockdown? Any metal folding chairs involved? :)

OK OK, I like a good tilt just like the next guy! *

Habtastic

P.S. *Not that there is anything wrong with that...

I give Downey credit for finally dropping his gloves but it was an even match. Niel also continues to be a force the whole game so the fight didn't intimidate him at all.

PS. Murray would of creamed him. Downey is a light weight.

Chris Neil is the future of NHL enforcers...guys that are Power Forwads who can get you 15 goals a year and take a regular shift. Downey on the other hand did hi sjob. I just wish he could skate.

No way Murray creams him, Neil would beat Murray soundly, Downey is a heavy weight and he proved it last night.  This guy is as tough as it gets.

Murray is a better hockey player, tougher, grittier and a better fighter.

First off people lets not argue over whos a better fighter because theres no point. Let us just simply join together and rejoice that we were able to watch such a beautiful tussle. I shed a tear because it was simple wonderful how Montreal finally defended themselves. But for the record lets just say we are lucky because Brian Murray but Kaigarogov or whatever in the lineup instead of Mr. McGratton, because he is one mean man, who loves to punch faces in.

I agree with Habs Girl that guys like Chris Neil are the new version of the tough guys, get you 30 points and take care of the rough stuff. Downey and Murrary are great to have in the lineup plus, if needed Begin, Komisarek, Souray and Rivet can take care of the good stuff.

However i just wish Gainey would sign Link Gaetz just for one game against the Laughs. Life would be complete. Just a dream though.

Come-on Gainey- we need to search the backwoods and find a guy like this again

Imagine in 83 he had 16 goals, 84-21 goals and 85- 19 goals

plus I never saw him back down from anyone

This will be Downeys' last year in the league. The day is gone where you can afford to dress a guy who cannot skate but can fight now and then. Your tough guys need to be able to take a regular shift, chip in with a goal now and then, and contribute in other ways but with their knuckles. Otherwise it is a waste of a roster spot.

Agree Barry. He's past his expiration date already.
