Correct me if I am wrong but we will be in trouble signing a few people come next year:
Bonk - I don't think we re-sign him
Ryder - I still don't get why we sign this guy to 1-year deals. Sign this guy to a 3 year deal!! He is our only player that shoots!!
Rivet - I say we keep him. He has missed like 4 games in the last 2 years
Markov - we have to keep him
Komi - only signed a one year deal - I say give him a 2 or 3 year deal
Souray - I say keep him but we may be able to package him for a strong centre. My gut tells me this is Souray's last year as a Hab.
Nininma - I don't think we will be re-signing him, but he is not playing that bad early in the season.
All of these guys are going to demand more money which will not fit in our cap space. All of these players I think are key to our team except for Bonk, and Nininma.
I think Bonk stays. 2.4 million this contract. Can he really expect a raise as a no better than third line center? (By the way, I am one of the few Bonk fans)
I really hope BG tries to extend Ryder's contract through the year, and not have to worry about free agency. Imagine how he would elevate his game with a nice fat contratc extention.
I don't think Souray will be in Montreal by the trade deadline. More of a gut feeling than anything else. I think Markov and Komisarek bring more to the team, and I can't imagine a huge market for Rivet or Niinimaa.

Bonk, Abby, Souray, gone. Chipchura and Danis in... maybe Emelin, as well. Rivet takes a pay-cut because he is not worth more than 2 mil. we need to save some money because we will be paying a lot out to keep the rest of the team intact. I also think Kovalev or Samsonov will be moved to make room for Kostitsyn. Lapierre will take the 4th-line RW position giving us a more intense team over-all. I am so excited about our prospects! Every year we have more that look ready to steal a spot.
Bonk is a good but overpaid 3rd or 4th line guy. We could expect to see him take a small paycut to stay, or we could bring up Chip or Grabo in his place. I would love to see Grabo come up, and If he finds the expected chemistry with Kostsitsyn in Hamilton you might see both make a push for the team together. Chip is good too, but has more of a two-way forward skill set than a scoring line skill set. Grabo is a rare complete prospect.
As for our resignings, we need Markov and Ryder. Rivet and Komi too, but only Markov and Ryder are completely irreplaceable for us.
