Shootout snipers???

So who should we be picking for our shootouts....here are my top 5, and i'd like to hear about everyones opinion and there top 5 as well.

- Kovalev....no doubt about it he has hands that 95% of the rest of the players in the league would love to have, he has to be one.

- Higgins.....has been proven to be a goal scorer, has he ever been a shooter in the shootout.....and if not, how come.

- Koviu.....who better win the game for you then your own captain, need i say more.

- Plekanek.....also has "pretty" hands that could make a goalie look bad.

- Samsonov.....fast, skilled, and knows where the back of the net is, he is no doubt in my mind a shootout shooter for us.

We sucked at shootouts last year, which is surprising when you consider the fowards we have.

My list looks a lot like yours. Kovy and Samsonov would be my top picks. I don't know why Ryder always gets the call. His forte is the quick shot off the pass. He looks a tad lost on the breakaway.

Ryder shouldn't be given anymore opportunities until the rest of the possible candidates get a stab at it. Kovalev and Samsonov, for sure. I think Higgins could also do a good job of it, as you mentioned. My order would probably be Koivu, Kovalev, Samsonov. Then after that if it's still going, I'd use Higgins, Plekanec and Ryder. I think when Ryder tries it again, he needs to just shoot and not try to deke. Briere was stopped by Huet on the deke, but Afinogenov and Vanek scored by just shooting, and Ryder has a lethal shot.

I know for myself when I seen Ryder and Saks on our SO list, we were toast!

No way would I have Saks or Ryder. Saks doesn't possess a quick or hard snap or wrist shot and Ryder is just plain not gifted enough to dangle with the puck. In saying that, they will eventually score if they're always picked. But it will be a very low average.

The problem is on this team, there isn't any natural break away artists. Kovy is talented but really doesn't score as much a he should.

OK, so to pick from this roster, I'd go with Higgins, Markov and Kovy

I am a 100% ryder fan, but i have to agree with you, i believe that we have some great finesse players on our team that could be great in the shoot-out,hell, give the rookie a shot!
