I seen some good things against a really fast and skilled team last night. Sure there were players that didn't look good but all in all most of our players did their thing. A big point against a good team!
Also think it's really great to see the chemistry between Saks and Higgins. These two elevate each other. Saks earned his money last night. The big question with him though is consistensy due to fatigue later in the season. Our second line will have to pick it up to take the stress off Sak's line. Also, with that chemistry, we can't afford to see Saks hurt.
A few mistakes last night by a few players but all in all, we can build off of it. The big plus is that we could match these guys. We're a fast team!
Also, like last season, Huet is looking like our MVP again.
We're going to win our share of games and I hope that the players I don't care for now...Sammy, Niniima and Downey prove me wrong and offer more than I expect.
I think we are matched / "Even Steven" when we play the Sabres. They too are a small, yet fast team. At least that's what I keep tellin' myself lol... we blew a 2 goal lead twice last night.... & that sucked
I got home & watched part of the game & laughed @ what I was hearin' ... the announcers on RDS called Buffalo Giant Skatin' Banana's on a few occations. (when they are dressed in their "away" uni's that is )
Clearly Higgins-Koivu are carrying the chemistry over from last season. That is a pairing that works, and Ryder is a perfect finisher to have with those two.
Plekanec does not look half bad, really, but he's probably going to get a lot of blame for the lack of chemistry right now between Kovy and Samsonov. So far this line is a minus, but I don't think breaking it up is the ideal thing to do just yet.
Third line: pretty good game against Toronto: mucking from Bonk, Perez dangerous at times, Johnson got his goal.
Fourth line: surprisingly not playing that well early on. Not sure why....except Begin of course, but even he's not up to his usual standard. Where is Latendresse? I can't even recall noticing him, really.
Defense: Markov, Komisarek, Rivet seem fine to me. Jury is out on the other 3.
Goaltending: good in both games. YES!
Coaching: Hard to evaluate at this point. We've shown a bit of everything, positive and negative. I don't like the fact that we are not playing our 3rd and 4th lines enough, but I understand the importance of a good start. I was a bit worried about that in preseason, when both were shaky.

Plouf, I think your evaluation is spot on! Still probably too early to do some significant changes to the Pleck's line, particularly since the Koviu line is really in synch, and Johnson,Perez seem to have a little bit of chemistry going. I agree hard to figure why the fourth line does not seem to have anything going. Would like to see Lats seem some powerplay time, if only to see how his offensive talents could be better utilized playing with the top teir talent of the team.
Yes. Stick Latendresse out in front of the net on the PP. It could create some havoc. First time in a while we've had this kind of player. We should use him.
