What the hell was the Referee thinking. Third period, Buffalo is taking penalty after penalty. Referee calls an obvious spear by Briere on Bonk. Briere is getting thrown out of the game, talks to referee, chats him up for 5 minutes while everyone is wondering what is going on. Referee drops the puck after Briere talked him out of the penalty, Briere walks in and scores. Talk about changing the momentum of a game. We need some fire behind the bench. I thought Ruff was going to jump the boards.

I'm surprised this is the only post, post-game, about this one. I woke up this morning expecting everyone on this Board up in arms about that. Biere nearly carves out Bonk's appendix, the ref whistles to stop the play, Briere complains, and no penalty is called. What the Hell was that? What was the whistle for if no penalty?

I honestly had no idea what they were talking about (volume was off becuase my sisters kids were sleeping). I was pretty upset that he then came along and scored. It would be nice to see our coach rip a new one for the ref, though. Sucks that we lost and especially if this kind of event contributed to it...
RDS said that whole thing with the ref and Brière was actually the ref telling Brière that if the Buffalo fans kept throwing things on the ice (after the consecutive penalities that Buffalo received) that Buffalo would get a penalty the next chance the refs got to call one. They said it was a warning to Brière and the team.
I am not sure believe the RDS explination. Could a team really get a penalty for the way the crowd is reacting.
I agree with the post about the Sabres getting a penalty. I believe they were going to get one and Briere talked him out of it. However the Sabres did not lose the game for us. We lost the game, That 3rd goal that started from the face off in the Sabres end when Briere walks in and scores is what really pissed me off. What a break down in the defense. Someone posted earlier that we need some fire behind the bench. When CJ was here all i wanted was to see him tee off in one game. Well, I know its only one game, but I hope carbo is not goint to be a patsy behind the bench. Sorry but I am really pissed we lost this one. I feel like dejavu all over again. How many times did we blow a lead last year in the last few minutes of a game. This should have been our 2 points
Holy crap it's only one game, take a breather, there are going to be mistakes ,if they make the same mistakes again and again then ya right on get pissed, but they'll learn by them,i'm sure carbo will be addressing them,so they don't happen again, but i don't think he has to pop a vain so he can get the refs on he side, the players have to be accountable, that was a great game by the habs, they kept up(and ahead) of a speedy team,a few brain farts thats all, they look friggin awesome to me "GO HABS GO"

I the NHL im not sure but i know in Soccer you can get a Bench Red Card for the way your fans are. Fans in soccer are the MOST passionate hands down and go WAAAAAY overboard sometimes. Ive seen flares thrown onto the field, heck a goalie has been hit by one once! I would make it a rule to have penalties given to the home team for chaotic fans

Sadly, I think it's the only way to control some fans. If the game can be decided by how the fans behave while watchin'... then I bet ya see a lot more proper mannered fans & a lot more well behaved kids @ the games. (Maybe suits/ties & full length furs like the good ol' days )
I swear the way some of the fans act.... DEAR GOD!!!!
There was a father there with his son, the son was maybe...10 yrs. old...(I know, you think Awwwwww right?).... Guess again.... his father whipped something on the ice, spilt his beer on the guy in front of him & started viciously lippin' off to a few Hab fans (not us).... an arena guard gave him a warnin' & said "act your age & be a rolemodel for your son".... 2 mins later is when the Buffalo penalty blitz started ... the 10 yr old yelled.... "Are you F***ing Blind Ref.... what kinda "F***ing call was that? & then screamed A$$HOLES"..... & (believe it or not) the dad had the nerve to high five his son & say "at'sa my boy!!!"...
so what ended up happenin'???? All the fans around them got pissed off & started mouthing off & the kid & his dad got the boot.
These are the same mistakes they made last year. Evidently they have not learned from them.I do understand there is a new coach. I am hopeful this will be taken care of. By the way I am breathing fine thankyou. This board is for people to vent with out being criticized

They definitely put the "ass" in Classless.
They? If the kid was 10, then his father is responsible for his behaviour. The man was clearly a boor. The kid only acts as he's been taught.
(I'll bet your little girl is a sweetie......)

She is the best.... a real doll. (Thus far ) Thanks
& I stand by my "they" comment.... let me explain...
in a few years when the kid's released into society to fend for himself... he'll be just as big of an ass as his dad & the world will be worse for it. I understand it's the parents job to teach them right from wrong.....but they are obviously not doin' it & that shouldn't excuse his behavior... & the kid was bein' a HUGE ASS.
Do ya think he'll improve with age without parental direction?? Highly unlikely. Even @ 10, a kid should know right from wrong (there is some direction given @ school)... if he doesn't by now.... there's little-to-no hope (unless of course his parents are sooo bad that he ends up in foster care, then ....well ....) His dad is raisin' a "mini lunatic".
Daddy is to blame, but son is an ASS just like his daddy. If I taught my kid that bullying is fine & she goes to school & picks on other kids.... yes I'd deserve the blame.... but she would still get the title of "Bully"..... just like he got the title of "Ass".
This world is full of Jackass' & they were all 10 yrs old once too (& someone's kid). I've come to learn that those who acted like that in grade school got worse as the years went on. 10, 11, 12....20....80 yrs old.... Age is no excuse..... there is no excuse for that crap.
*** I don't mean to rant, but the blame should be laid on the doorstep of all who deserve it... Mom, Dad & the boy are all equally responsible (or irresponsible as the case may be)
