Huet:  AWESOME!
Ryder-Koivu-Higgins:  AWESOME!
Samsonov:  He has a man crush on Kovalev!!! every time he touched the puck he immediatley look for Kovalev and tried to feather a pass to him - I'm sure Carbo et staff will be talking to Sammy.  First game gitters.
Rivet:  I love Rivet, but why didn't he eliminate Briere along the boards with 14 seconds left?  Worse thing that happens is we get  a penalty with 10 secs or so left BUT we'd still be up 4-3.
Komisarek:  Good for him thorwing his weight around, he's really come along way and only getting better.

How scary is that 4th line on Buffalo of Peters-Gaustad-Mair!?!?  All 3 of them are over 6'3 220lbs and Peters and Gaustad can chuck'em and skate...YIKES.

Next time we play Buffalo, I bet Downey is in the lineup.

Interesting observations. Looking at it from another perspective. Rivet should of crushed him. Souray was made the goat on that play but this is why every player on the ice gets the minus. I also thought Saks was too tired to be double shifted even with the time out in between.

I will keep this very simple. Buffalo wore Montreal down with DEPTH. I have not seen the minutes played but I will venture to guess that the habs 2 lines played 75-80% of the game. Buffalo rolled ALL 4 lines. Secondly..up the middle. Saks was a warriior...after that.......

I really enjoyed the game last night except the end obviously. Brier's goal really deflated the team I think. I also thought Latendresse looked out of place, slow and uneffective like when he tried to go around the defence one on one, it would work in old timers beer league but not in the nhl,the defence checked him like taking candy from a baby. Hopefully it was just nerves on his part, not giving up on him yet though.

But if they play tonight with the same speed they should make fools out of TO's slow defence.

the habs played awesome, even though they lost, if they play like this every game then we will make the play-offs and be ok.

Observations from someone who was at the game.  First off great game, both teams skated well, very fast and exciting from both ends.  One of the best games I've seen live.

First line played great, second line played below par, third and fourth line played average.

On last goal, there was time out called and after the time out Kovalev was skating out for the draw and  Carbo sent Higgins out, to replace him but the ref said it was too late.  In my books that is rookie head coach mistake.  With the time out and everything he had lots of time to get the right people out.  No way should Kovy be out there in a defensive roll.

After watching Buffalo's fourth line dominate us the whole night, it confirmed how they are that much deep of a team than we are.

One last thing, this may make alot of people mad, but its what I noticed and what alot of the Habs fans around us were also noticing,  Lats need to work on his skating, alot, yes he is only 19 but I can't help but wonder if we called him up way too early.  Hes not going to see the ice time he would down in the juniors, but he just seems lost and very slow.  Was not impressed at all in him, hopefully he can improve and the pressure doesn't get too him.

What they need to do to him is put him on the PP to give him confidence.  As several of us have stated, park him in the crease to screen the goalie, deflect pucks, and bang in rebounds.  It's not only a confidence booster for him but also a needed element on the PP.
