Many goalies…including some great goalies…are notoriously slow starters and Huet shows all the signs of being such a guy…as does Abby in fact! This usually means that the first 5 or 10 starts are prone to the odd ‘softy’ finding the twine!!!
So, here is hoping that Carbo instructs all the defensemen to just dump the puck up and out as much as possible under pressure (especially against the likes of a Lindy Ruff coached team).....and let's see our boys actually OUTSHOOT the opposition for a change!!!
Also, it would be great to see some spirited back-checking and flat-out hustle across all lines!
…And-o mostly worries about weathering the storm of the first 5 or 10 minutes!!!
One thing I noticed in the two Laffs games I agonizingly watched this week cause I was so desperate for a hockey fix is this. Goaltending is C-R-I-T-I-C-A-L in the new NHL. Case in point. Wed night Gerber palys very well and the Sens win 4-1. Last night he stinks the place out and they lose 6-0. The game now is all about uncle mo..momentum. Lats night Gerber let in a couple softies and you could just see the Laffs gather strength from that. The habs have a very young and, one would expect, fragile team where goals will be at a premium again. Get er done Huet!
