Does that mean that his salary still counts against the cap?

I'd rather be "stuck" with anyone over Traverse.

Gillette must be please with how Bob Gainey throws his money around? What purpose having this guy in Hamilton? Certinly it cannot be to teach the kids how to play defense? Taking him off waivers made zero sense to me last week and still make zero sense, wheteher he is playing in Montreal or taking a prospects spot in the Hamilton lineup.

Taking Traverse made sense at the time - Bob saw something available, wasn't sure if his trade was going to happend and shored his bets.  Seriously, Gillette couldn't care less about the $1M or whatever it is.

I bet Dallas told Gainy that he first had to take traverse off thier hands first before they would make any deal with him to unload Ribs.

Traverse was claimed off of San Jose. Traverse was Dallas property last year.

I guess the Sharks had to wait for someone to take Traverse off waivers before they could make the deal with NJ and get Malakhov.....
