Once he reaches the 10 game mark, he needs to clear waivers, and then we are more likely to send Downey down, even if it means a higher team salary, another skill guy rotting in the press box, and not having a backup energy guy on hand.
So no, we won't be forced to lose him this season, but next season we might have our hand forced when even more rookies push for the team (Grabo, Chip, and Locke especially)
