We now can't keep both these guys because Gainey needs Downey's potatoes.

What will happen? Perez will stay because he wouldn't clear waivers I assume.

What will happen to the high draft pick Kots? When he's called, can we send him back or will he get picked off waivers? How does this work?

Are we forced to trade him? It would suck to trade a high draft pick without giving him a chance!

I sure wish Gainey would turn Downey lose to bring the roster numbers down and let talant do its thing.

We can send him down provided he hasn't played 10 games in one season, right? Once he reaches the 10 game mark, he needs to clear waivers, and then we are more likely to send Downey down, even if it means a higher team salary, another skill guy rotting in the press box, and not having a backup energy guy on hand.

So no, we won't be forced to lose him this season, but next season we might have our hand forced when even more rookies push for the team (Grabo, Chip, and Locke especially)

Thanks Traveling Hab. I feel better! Hopefully Gainey will lose Downey rather than this scenario of losing skill to the waiver.
