Who gets the credit?

Well, with all the bashing of BG over the past little while, I am just wondering who will get the credit if Lats becomes a good player?

Some on this site will ignore BG and give the credit to the coaches. I would have to say that BG deserves alot of the credit if Lats develops well for the Habs.

I say there is alot of credit to go around. The scouting staff for identifying this guy and convincing BG to trade up and draft him. If the scouts do not identify this guy as a "sleeper" then we do not get him. BG for listening to his scouting staff. The coaches (I think Muller will work alot with him and that will help the kid alot).

Don't forget about ABHabman.  Even Gainey didn't want to see AB eat his shorts.

To risk saying the obvious, Lats will deserve tons of credit for surviving the scrutiny he is about to undergo. I do not envy him right now, but I really hope he can do it.

All the afore mentioned people deserve credit too, but I was under the impression that Gainey engineered the trade up for him instead of the scouts trying to convince him to do it. Anyone know who was behind that steal?

Also, no one is bashing him. To be an average GM in this leaque isn't terrible or even bad.

Also Johnny, Gainey does deserve credit for some of his work. Although, it's not like he goes out on a limb to improve this team, he's very conservative and doesn't gamble much. He should get some credit at the draft table also along with Savard but then again, he did take some questionable drafts also. It all just seems to balance out.

My concern isn't really with the drafts but with his non activity at the position we've been thin at since his arrival in 03'. Defense and Center ice. He has done squat. Posters give him credit for letting Brisebois run out his contract (any GM can do this) and the Hainsey thing. That's all fine but the D is getting thinner and his answer is Traverse.

Also, what has he done at Center besides rewarding current players with larger contracts. Sure he also brought in Begin and Bonk but they're not helping at the top.

We're improving but will it be too slowly to win in this decade?
