In light of Kovy and Sammy's poor performance...my question is...When was the last time the Habs had a skilled elite player that also worked hard every night and was consistent throughout the season?

 Maybe Damphousse?

Anyway, my point is, we really need that kind of robust skilled player that shows up every game. We could sure use a Sakic or Yzerman type player but they don't come around very often. Higgins will be the closest thing we have to that because the guy is talented and gritty plus works his butt off every game.

Muller, Koivu is the example of the smurf that can't sustain a full season, never mind being elite. With Saks being the first guy to jump in your brain, you have just helped me make my point. It has been so long since we've had a skilled and hard working player that makes a difference game in and out that we accept patchwork with straws.

 You win Johab!

For one season, we had a solid player that did it with hard work and skill.

By your own definition, it's Koivu.  71 points in 02-03, the season after the Theo heroics.  71 points playing Zednick (30 goals) and others like Audette, Kilger, Czerkawski etc.  If he would have had 2 true first line wingers, he would have gotten more points.  Instead he was stuck with 2nd liners and others.

"IF ONLY". Great players elevate their play REGARDLESS of who they are playing with. Crosby had 107 points last year as an 18 year old. Can anyone here name his wingers?!??? Exactly. Oveechkin same thing. I am getting tired of all this "so and so has done fantastic with the habs considering who he has had to play with".  I don;t think Sundin has been blessed with superstar wingers either.

Well you name me a better player in Mtl.  You can't because there are none.  Some have more talent (not many) but are lacking in other qualities.  The guy is the total package in a small, fragile body.  No fault of his own.  The fact that he plays with that much drive is probably the reason he is not as resilient as some.  How often is Ribiero injured, not very, why, if you need an answer to that, you don't pay enough attention to him.
