TSN Reporting Isles Sign Kozlov to 29 year contract
Permalink Closed

TSN is reporting today that the New York Islanders have signed 31 year old Center Victor Kozlov to a 29 year contract worth a reported 188.4 million dollars. New Islander GM Garth Snow stated " It was important to us that we wrap up Victor until he is 60. He has often implied that he would like to play for the Moscow Metamucils Oldtimers Hockey team in his native Russia when he turns 45 and we did not want to lose him"

Snow continued "We now have an unproven goalie here until he turns 40 and an underachieving Center under wraps until he draws a pension. Both Chuckey (Charles Wang) and I strongly feel that we are well on our way to getting rid of the cash he has burning a hole in his bank account and will continue to work in this direction. It is our view that the IRS will not pursue his back taxes due to reasons of insanity"

Snow then addressed the rumour that he has been actively pursuing Butch Goring to make a comeback. Goring, who is now 87, has been working out at an outdoor rink in Las Vegas and has declared himself fit to play. Says Snow "There is no secret that we would love to see Butch back in an Islanders Uniform. I will be using my vast experience as an NHL General Manager to pursuade him to dig out the prehistoric helmet one more time and come back. The problem I have is that I have offered him a 15 year contract and I am not sure he can play that long" Stay tuned.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (CP0 - This time the New York Islanders settled for a one-year deal.)

A day after handing goalie Rick DiPietro a record US$67.5-million, 15-year contract, the Isles handed unrestricted free agent Viktor Kozlov an $865,000, one-year contract.

The 6-5, 230-pound Russian centre had 12 goals and 13 assists in 69 games with the New Jersey Devils last season. He also went eight for 12 in the shootout.

"Viktor brings a lot to the table," said Islanders GM Garth Snow. "He can be a centre or wing on any of our top three lines and be solid in all zones. This is an excellent addition for our team as we head into training camp."

The 31-year-old Kozlov has 144 goals and 247 assists in 668 NHL regular-season games with San Jose, Florida and New Jersey.

The Islanders also announced that veteran goalie Mike Dunham and winger Richard Park - both unrestricted free agents- will attend training camp on a tryout basis.

They are already loaded at center, Kozlost will probably play on Yashin's wing to create the laziest line in hockey.

I can't believe Wang is so ignorant about sports. I also can't believe that Snow didn't tell Wang about the tremendous bone head contract. And I can't believe that Snow would still want to be part of an organization with such incompetence.

Milbury, now Snow. Who will provide the next major goof up?

Smith had the right idea to split when things weren't totally screwed up.

Which makes it even MORE pathetic Jay...Snow may as well just attach some strings to his limbs so that Wang can pull them. Did Garth Snow want to be an NHL GM that bad that he is willing to make himself look like an idiot? What a joke. Snow best hope that Wang keeps him around because there is not another team on the face of the planet that we call earth that will want anything to do with him.

Which is more likely true? Does Snow suck up to Wang or will he have to bendover backwards to please him?

"Snow then addressed the rumour that he has been actively pursuing Butch Goring to make a comeback. (of course the only times wayne wouldn't play is when they played pheonix.  the rest of the time he would be on a cell phone barking orders at his players in pheonix while he played for toronto...  yea  i know we put way too much thought into that)   sad thing is   he is a leafs fan

Funny post, Barry!

I remember Butch Goring making a comeback with the Nova Soctia Oilers, then of the AHL, in the late 80's.  I think he was about 75 then, and his helmet was at least 100!
