Anyone here other then myself, going to the prospects tourney at Ricoh Coliseum on the weekend? Ill be there Friday night for Habs and make me laffs prospect game.
I sure wish I could attend this weekend. Over the next few days, I will post some of the reports from the prospects camp being held in Pierrefond outside MTL as well as any of the articles that are posted online reagarding the tournamnet games played by the HABS. These articles will be taken from the French Newspaper- let me know your wishes, whether you want a translation or just the gist of the articles. The following are 3 articles from La Presse about Latendresse(2 articles) and Garbovski(1 Article)
stole these from another board , its about the rookie practice im montreal today
Martin McGuire of CKAC was there as well, here is what he said:
- The lines were: Lats-Chip-D'ago...KostyII-Grabo-Mouton...Picard-Petit-Stewart. He thinks Chip, Lats, Dago, KostyII and Grabo will be in the main camp.
- Grabovsky looks like a little tank. Skates really well, he's ''a notch ahead'' of the other ones.
- With that said, Latendresse was the best player out there. Even better than Grabovsky in his own mind.
(at that point Villeneuve basically orgasmed hearing this news about Latendresse)
- There will be 50 players in the Habs training camp.
- Latendresse knows he has to start everything all over again in camp this year. Once again adds he only had headaches no concussion.
I was there today, must say that Grabovsky is fast, he didn't seem to push too hard and was still by far the best skater, and he actually surprised me with a very good shot. He could cause a surprise at the real camp.
Latendresse can score goals, no question about that, what a shot for him too, he was the one that seemed the most comfortable out there, cracking jokes and laughing quite a lot, he looked to be in great shape, good news...
Kostitsyn, the young one was also very good on the line with Grabovsky``the bielorussian rocket``, but Mouton, who completed that line was clearly out of his league.
Maxwell actually surprised me also with a good scoring touch, and finally Mikus who otherwise was not dominant, did blast a one timer past the goalie.
Chipchura, who looked very solid out there, did not seem to have a great scoring touch but then again, it's hard to judge as they didn't play a game.
For defence, O'byrne is pretty mobile for his size (6'5 230 some pounds) and really looked much bigger than the others as they walked in, he could be a surprise but will likely be in Hamilton this year. Carl looked like a good passer, but did not really stand out, and that's about it for D's.
In goal, Price is very solid , at everything really, and stands out, and Desjardins was also very strong, he looks big in net and stoped a lot of pucks. That's about it
Sounds great! Perezhogin better be looking over his shoulder because I don't think his place is secure. Some pundits thought that Grabovsky might come in and steal a top-two center spot... let's hope he does! I love our prospects and wish, as many of you do, I could see the camp. Unless they can get Emelin over, I don't see any movement on our blue-line, except maybe Cote coming up as an extra until Bouillon is back.

Good informative post macneil! We have some solid future NHLers! I don't think we have a superstar in the making but many strong players maturing at the same rate is better than one superstar!
id like to take credit but it was a cut and paste job , but i di that well didn"t i . lol yes it sound like a good bunch of prospects coming up , we'll have to wait to see . grabovski sounds like he wants(think he can) to play in the nhl .
as for my new avitar , its a ripoff as well , im no good at doing that stuff.

It rocks!
I'm curious to see if Grabovski can grab a spotski also

Thanks Goodtown, I forgot this was going on,. I'm going to grab my three sons and head down. $8.00 a ticket, not too bad. Here's hoping that Pogge gets absolutely shelled (I'm tired of hearing about him).

Latendresse- he was so close to making it last year I wonder if he can make it over the hump?
Chypchura- loads of potential and could be that future power forward we need
Price- still hoping that he proves me wrong when I say "whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat were you thinking Bobby G? Number 5?!??"
I really want to see Latendresse and Chypchura, but I also am interested in Aubin and Picard-Hooper. They both have put up some big numbers last year in the 'Q' (Aubin had 103 in 70g and P-H had 100 in 70g). P-H is listed as a Left Winger, but the Habs have him as a center.
I don't understand drafting a goalie so early in the draft either, perhaps their current crop of netminders (Huet and Aebischer) will become too expensive and Danis will have been made trade bait for a center.

Heeter- hey..if Price turns out to be the keeper that Gainey and the scouts think he is then it will turn out to be a great pick. One thing I give Gainey credit for. he does not always do the "safe" thing.

Living in NW Ontario, I don't get to see any of these kids. So keep posting articles and your own observations. These little bits of information are very appreciated.
Fellow habs fan i was at rookie tournament game 2 between our hab young guns vs the florida panther young guns. Cedric was very impressive. I mean if you saw that oversized net and cedric in front of it. He looked small but but did he ever cover that net north/south and east/west. made it look easy. florida had a few 5 on 3 and only scored once. Quick glove hand and good pad work. The panthers had a majority of thier shots on the power play. 5 on 5 the habsters were so dominant.
Grabovski was awesome! Boy can he shift gears and make you look bad on the rush and he does have good puck control on the rush and in traffic. he is not afraid of going to the net.
Sergei Kostitsyn, Latendresse, Chipchura, Maxwell, White, D'Agostini all played good at both end of the ice.
It did not seem to matter which line was out there for the habs. Our young guns made florida look slow. Thats what my 11 year old daughter said to me. Dad florida looks slow and I said thats only because the habs are a quicker skating team. Penalty kill was very good and it seems that latendresse, chipchura were the goto guys on the pk.
I was impressed with Frechette & Joainisse(i think i spelled his name right) these are a couple of try out guys that were not affraid to hit the opponents and seem to be cool under pressure (not coughing up the puck)and very good skaters. O'bryne hammered a couple of guys behind our net and he is one smooth operator with skating and moving the puck. jon gleed he is going to be a good defenseman (stay-at-home & steady d-man)
I really enjoyed the game and would do this again. It was general admission, so i can sit anywhere, me and my two daughters managed to be at ice level(first row)
Your guess is as good as mine Nilsey. The nets are going back to regulation size for the rest of the tournament. Was this another of Bettman's quick fixes?
